摘要： An electrical connector assembly is provided for mating with a complementary second connector. The assembly includes a housing mounting a terminal module for movement relative to the housing between a projecting position and a retracted position. The terminal module includes a dielectrical module body having a front mating end which projects from the housing and a rear mounting end which mounts the terminal module in the housing for movement between said positions. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the module body and include front flexible contact ends projecting from the front mating end of the module body for engaging appropriate terminal contacts of the complementary second connector. When the second connector is mated with the connector assembly, the contacts of the second connector engage the front flexible contact ends of the terminals and move the terminal module from its projecting position to its retracted position.

摘要： A through-panel apparatus includes a device with at least one through-panel receptacle and at least one component removably mounted to the device by inserting the component through the receptacle. Both the device and component have between them electrical and/or optical connections that are made when the component is mounted to the device, and broken when the component is demounted from the device. To break the connections requires the application of an extraction force in a direction opposite to that of insertion of the device through the receptacle. The component has a sprung mechanism that is biased against the device when an insertion force is applied to the component along the direction of insertion during mounting of the component to the device. The biasing of the sprung mechanism provides a spring bias force that contributes to the required extraction force to aid extraction of the component from the receptacle.

摘要： A connector includes a first housing section having a plurality of electrically conductive contacts therein. The connector also includes a second housing section including a plurality of electrically conductive contacts that can form an electrical connection with the contacts of the first housing section. The first housing section and the second housing section are removably connectable and are capable of forming an explosion proof or flame proof housing when connected. The contacts of at least one of the second housing section and the first housing section are movable relative to their respective housing section to align the contacts of the second housing and the contacts of the first housing section during connection of the second housing section to the first housing section. Electrically conductive connection between the contacts of the first housing section and the contacts of the second housing section occurs during connection such that when connection between the contacts of the first housing section and the contacts of the second housing section occurs, the first housing section and the second housing section are in sufficient connection to form an explosion proof housing.

摘要： An insertion-force reducing connector assembly and method for mating multi-terminal male and female connectors of the type used in automotive wiring harnesses. The female connector is movably retained in a frame-like holder by a self-actuating force reducing link that automatically couples a male connector inserted into the holder to the female connector with an insertion/withdrawal ratio in which the female connector moves away from the male connector in the terminal-mating direction more slowly than the male connector is inserted, thus allowing the connectors to be coupled over a longer than normal terminal-mating distance and reducing the insertion force needed to mate the terminals. The method includes the steps of coupling the female connector to the holder and subsequently mating the male connector to the female connector in the holder.

The connector with retainer members comprises an insulating housing proper having penetration holes inside thereof through which a plurality of connector terminals are fitted therein, flanges protruded outwardly from right and left or upper and lower wall faces of the housing proper in a direction orthogonal to a direction of insertion and removal of the connector, a pair of retainer members having elasticity and fixedly attached to both sides of the back face of the flanges. The retainer members comprise posts fixedly attached to the flanges, and elastic retainer pieces having flexibility and formed by folding back the posts in a substantially inverted V-shape from each head thereof, and said elastic retainer pieces comprise retainer stepped parts at tip ends engaged with peripheral edges of attachment ports of a panel, and tongue pieces provided on the tip end of the retainer stepped parts and the tip ends of the tongue pieces are butted against the posts for restricting the elastic retainer pieces from being excessively bent.

The second edges are pushed toward the signal contacts by the grounding terminals because the grounding terminals are stronger than the signal contacts. A female connector (12) mateable with the male connector includes a dielectric member (22) and a number of signal contacts (24) and a number of grounding terminals (26) retained in the dielectric member in face-to-face relationship. The signal contacts straddle on a bottom surface (128) of the dielectric member. The male and the female connectors have a guiding means for guiding the connectors to correctly mate with each other.
