    摘要: A process for preparing amines or imines which comprises contacting an alcohol, aldehyde, or ketone with an aminating agent in the presence of a catalyst under reaction conditions sufficient to form an amine or imine, wherein the catalyst comprises a homogeneous mixture of (a) 10-90 mole percent cobalt or an insoluble salt thereof, (b) 9-89 mole percent copper or an insoluble salt thereof, and (c) 1-20 mole percent of a metal or insoluble salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of a Lanthanum series metal, thorium, uranium, scandium, titanium, and yttrium is described. A process which employs zirconium as component (c) and which is supported on a carrier material, wherein the carrier material has been neutralized with a base, is also disclosed.

    摘要: Metals and alloys of metals which have the property of electrolytic rectification can be coated with an anticorrosive coating by immersion in a strongly alkaline aqueous bath comprising a water soluble fluoride, a water soluble iron salt, and mixtures thereof by the application of a sufficiently high voltage to obtain spark discharge at the surface to be coated, said potential being applied between the metal or alloy to be coated utilized as an anode and a cathode immersed in the aqueous bath. A durable coating is thereby applied to the surface of said metals or alloys thereof which is resistant to a corrosive salt spray environment.

    摘要: A method of producing amines, the method comprising contacting at reactive conditions at least one alcohol, aldehyde or ketone, or a mixture thereof, with an aminating agent in the presence of a catalyst, is improved by employing as the catalyst a composition comprising cobalt, copper and a third component selected from the group consisting of iron, zinc, zirconium and mixtures thereof. For example, polypropylene glycol is quantitatively aminated by contacting it with ammonia at about 175.degree. C. and in the presence of a catalyst comprising (metal basis) 30 mole percent cobalt, 63 mole percent copper and about 7 mole percent iron.

Prepolymers and polymers prepared from the imines and secondary amines are also disclosed. In addition, the imines and secondary amines of the invention are also useful as epoxy resin curing agents.
