    摘要: An autoinjector converted from an intramuscular to a subcutaneous mode of injection comprising a housing having a medicament cartridge assembly mounted within the housing means in a storage position for movement out of the storage position and a releasable stressed spring assembly for moving the medicament cartridge assembly means out of the storage position. The stressed spring assembly is operable in response to a manual actuating procedure which does not require compression of the subcutaneous tissue to effect an intramuscular mode of injection by moving the hypodermic needle of the cartridge assembly outwardly of the housing into the muscle tissue at the injection site of a user and a major portion of the liquid medicament of the cartridge assembly outwardly through the hypodermic needle into the muscle tissue of the user. An injection mode converting structure is secured in a subcutaneous mode position for converting the mode of injection effected by the stressed spring assembly from the intramuscular mode of injection to a subcutaneous mode of injection in which the needle cannot extend substantially beyond subcutaneous tissue at the injection site of the user and a major portion of the liquid medicament enters into the subcutaneous tissue.

    摘要: A disposable hypodermic syringe having a cylindrical barrel open at both its forward and rearward ends, with the forward tooled end having a necked down portion terminating in an annular flange having an outer diameter greater than that of the necked down portion and less than that of the cylindrical barrel, a stopper positioned in the necked down portion of the cylindrical barrel to seal off the tooled end of the barrel, a resilient plastic needle hub assembly fitted on the forward end of the cylindrical barrel. The hub assembly including a cylindrical body having both a forward and a rearward end, a nose portion extending forwardly from the forward end of the cylindrical body, a needle affixed to the nose portion away from the forward end of the cylindrical body, the cylindrical body being sized whereby it will resiliently fit over and engage the annular flange of the necked down portion of the cylindrical barrel to operatively retain the needle hub assembly on the cylindrical barrel with a sleeve of heat shrinkable plastic fitted over a portion of the hub assembly and contiguous cylindrical barrel whereby when heat is applied the sleeve will shrink to firmly engage the aforedescribed syringe portions and thereby provide an air tight seal between the hub body and the cylindrical barrel and in addition whereby the shrink tension will cause the hub body to more firmly engage the annular flange.

    摘要: A medicament discharging device and an expendable clip thereon containing a plurality of medicament cartridges. Each of the cartridges comprises a container, a dosage of medicament in the container, a hypodermic needle sealingly contained in a sterile condition in cooperating relation with the container and a movable wall means at one end of the container operable when moved through a discharging stroke to cause the sharpened end of the needle to move outwardly out of sealingly contained relation and into the muscle tissue of a patient and the medicament dosage to move outwardly of the container into the opposite end of the needle and out of the sharpened end thereof into the muscle tissue of the patient. The medicament discharging device comprises a portable manually engageable housing structure defining a medicament cartridge receiving station, a plunger mounted in the housing structure for movement through the medicament cartridge receiving station in repetitive operative cycles each of which includes a discharging stroke in one direction and a return stroke in the opposite direction, a manually actuatable mechanism for effecting movement of the plunger through an operative cycle, and a releasable connection between the housing structure and the clip for securing the same in operative relation so that successive cartridges in the clip will be presented in the medicament cartridge receiving station of the housing structure for injection in response to an operative cycle.

    摘要: An injection device includes a generally tubular outer body and a medicament cartridge assembly carried within the outer body. The cartridge assembly includes a glass container, a charge of medicament disposed within the glass container, iii) a plunger member rearwardly confining the medicament, and iv) a seal for sealing the forward portion of the glass container. A needle has a rearward end disposed proximate the seal, with the seal and needle being movable with respect to one another. A rigid needle cover member is normally maintained in an inoperative position and is movable relative to said body to a protective position wherein the needle cover member extends forwardly to cover the forward end of the needle. A releasable spring is releasable in response to a predetermined actuating procedure to drive a collet member forwardly within the outer body and thereby enable i) the cartridge assembly to move relative to the needle so that the rearward end of the needle pierces the seal to establish communication with the medicament, ii) the needle to move with respect to the body so that the needle projects outwardly from the forward end of the body, and iii) the needle cover to move relative to the body from the inoperative position to the protective position so that the needle cover member extends beyond the forward end of the needle.

    摘要: A stressed spring assembly for providing an operative stroke in cooperating relation with a medicament cartridge assembly of an auto-injector so as to inject a liquid medicament of the medicament cartridge assembly through a hypodermic needle of the medicament cartridge assembly into an injection site of the user. The stressed spring assembly includes a cap structure serving the plural purposes of (1) facilitating the securement of the cap structure and remainder of the auto-injection with the user's pocket, (2) alleviating the likelihood of an unwanted release of the releasable mechanism of the stressed spring assembly with a resultant unwanted movement of the hypodermic needle and an unwanted movement of the liquid medicament outwardly of the hypodermic needle by requiring two different manual movements for its removal, and (3) protecting against an unwanted contact with the hypodermic needle while in extended operative position after withdrawal from the injection site. The cap structure is formed of first and second members disposed in a fixed assembled position with respect to one another into which the first and second members are snap-fitted by a relative movement toward one another in an axial direction. Both members are of a configuration enabling them to be molded by corresponding die surfaces contained on two die members movable together and apart.

    摘要: Apparatus for resuscitating a plurality of patients comprising four face mask assemblies each of which is operable to be operatively connected with a patient so as to permit fresh air to be supplied to the lungs of such patient and four bellows assemblies actuated by a cam track rotated either by a suitable clutched electric motor or by hand crank for delivering successive volumes of fresh air under pressure to each face mask assembly at a desired cyclical frequency wherein each cycle includes said fresh air delivery as a minor part thereof. Each face mask assembly has operatively associated therewith (1) a stale air exhaust valve assembly for permitting air expelled from the lungs of each patient during the remaining major part of each cycle associated therewith to be exhausted to atmosphere, (2) a medicament injector for selectively supplying a respiratory medicament dosage into the fresh air delivered to each face mask assembly, and (3) a pressure gauge for indicating the operative pressure adjacent the face mask assembly so as to enable the operator to readily determine a bronchoconstrictive condition of a patient operatively connected with the associated face mask assembly so that the associated selective medicament injector is selected to deliver medicament only during the minor cycle part when the fresh air is delivered.
