摘要: A process as disclosed for improving the particle size of a olefin polymerization catalyst. The process involves combining the catalyst with an alkoxide-containing liquid comprising a transition metal alkoxide and an aluminum alkyl, causing said alkoxide and said aluminum alkyl to react for form a precipitate and then recovering the resulting solid. Also disclosed are the catalysts produced by such a process and the use of such catalysts in the polymerization of olefins.

摘要: A method for making ethylene polymers and copolymers is disclosed. The method uses a catalyst system comprising a low level of an aluminum-containing activator, a bridged indenoindolyl transition metal complex, and a treated silica support. The method enables economical preparation of ethylene copolymers having very low density. The silica-supported, bridged complexes incorporate comonomers efficiently and are valuable for a commercial slurry loop process. Use of a bridged indeno[2,1-b]indolyl complex provides exceptionally efficient comonomer incorporation, and gives polymers with a substantial and controlled level of long-chain branching. The method facilitates the production of a wide variety of polyolefins, from HDPE to plastomers.

Suitable heteroatomic ligands include boraaryl, azaborolinyl, pyridinyl, pyrrolyl, indolyl, carbazolyl and quinolinyl.

摘要: Novel molding compositions consisting essentially of a mixture of a skin-forming component and a foam core-foaming component physically dry-blended together. The skin-forming component comprises two distinct phases blended together, a high zero-shear viscosity material and a low zero-shear viscosity material. The foam core-forming component preferably comprises a foamable polymeric material including a suitable blowing agent. In a preferred embodiment, the three materials are selected from suitable homopolymers and copolymers of ethylene.

摘要: A polymerization catalyst providing a good balance of productivity and polymer fines prepared by reacting a metal halide, such as MgCl.sub.2, with a titanium compound, such as Ti(OEt).sub.4, to form a first catalyst component; mixing a solution of said first catalyst component with an organoaluminum compound at a temperature in the range of -100.degree. to 70.degree. C.; then heating to a higher temperature in the range of 50.degree. C. to 110.degree. C. to form additional precipitate, and then reacting the resulting solid with a halogenating agent.
