Abstract: A system and a method to display diagnostic and operating data on a trend graph via a web browser so that the data appears to trend in real-time. In one embodiment, the system includes a server with an architecture having multiple layers. The layers include a pair of first in, first out (FIFO) data queues including a first data queue and a second data queue. The embodiments utilize a timing structure with a plurality of timers including a first timer to regulate calls from the first data queue to a data source (e.g., a valve assembly or controller on a distributed control system), a second timer to regulate calls from the second data queue to the first data queue, and a third timer to regulate calls from the web browser to the second data queue for data to display on trend graph.

Abstract: Valve assemblies with butterfly valves for use as a double isolation & bleed (DIB) valve and a double block & bleed (DBB) valve. The embodiments may have a twin-disc design with a non-separable, valve body having a central bore. A pair of butterfly valves may reside in the central bore, each having an annular seal and a rotatable disc that contacts the annular seal to prevent flow of fluid into space between the butterfly valves. Implementations of the embodiments configure the annular seal with a sloped contact surface at an angle to positively seal the rotatable discs in the preferred direction of incoming flow. In this way, the valves can always close in response to either uni-directional flow into one end of the central bore or bi-directional flow into both ends of the central bore, respectively or simultaneously.

Abstract: Embodiments of a directional valve assembly that provides a single device with functionality of a two-position design for automated operation and functionality of a three-position design for manual operation. The embodiments can include a housing with a piston chamber and a spool member that transits in the housing to regulate the flow of a working fluid to a cylinder. The embodiments can also have one or more pilot operators that regulate the flow of pilot air into the piston chamber to move the spool member between two positions, i.e., two open positions. The embodiments can also have a manual operator (e.g., a lever) that can move the spool to the open positions and to a closed position. In one embodiment, the spool member is configured to remain in either a first position, a second position, or a third position in the absence of an outside stimulus on the pilot operators.

Abstract: An energy harvester for use in-line with a pipe to harness potential and kinetic energy of fluids flowing therein. Structure for the energy harvester may include a shaft and a blade extending radially therefrom. The shaft can penetrate a housing that operates as a pipe section to install the device in-line with pipe. The shaft can couple with an electrical generator. A load may connect with voltage terminals on the generator so that fluid impinging on the blades will rotate the generator to power the load, effectively harvesting power from the flowing fluid. In one implementation, a load control device that couples with the generator voltage terminals controls a pressure characteristic of the fluid, such as pressure drop, by applying an electrical load on the generator and controllably impeding rotation of the shaft.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and a system, which is configured to implement the method, to process data from one or more valve assemblies found e.g., on a process line. These embodiments can generate a listing that identifies how network/system bandwidth is allocated for the collection of data from the valve assemblies. The embodiments can also process the data to re-arrange the valve assemblies in the listing to better allocate the network/system bandwidth to certain ones of the valve assemblies that require more data to properly assess the operation of the valve assembly. In this way, further diagnostics using the data can identify any changes in operation of the valve assemblies that might be detrimental to the valve assembly and/or the process line in general.

Abstract: Embodiments of a force generating element that can broaden the application of valves and, in particular, pilot-operated valves to include applications that have extreme operating temperatures. Abstract: A pumping device configured to directly drive a reciprocating member to pump a fluid. In one embodiment, the pumping device comprises a body forming an internal chamber. The reciprocating member may be disposed in the body, the reciprocating member having a first end, a second end, and an axis. The embodiment may further include a drive system magnetically coupled with the reciprocating member, the drive system comprising a first conductive body affixed relative to the reciprocating member. The drive system may be configured to induce a first magnetic field by energizing the first conductive body. The reciprocating member may be configured to induce a second magnetic field in a manner that causes the reciprocating member to move between a first position and a second position to fill and evacuate the internal chamber with a fluid.
