摘要: This disclosure relates to an extrudate which contains, by weight based on the weight of the extrudate on a moisture-free basis, (a) from about 60% to about 90% plant protein; (b) from about 1% to about 10% hydrocolloid, wherein the hydrocolloid is selected from the group consisting of alginate, pectin, agar, methylcellulose, and mixtures thereof; and (c) optionally, no more than about 14% starch. This disclosure also relates to a dry-blend composition which contains, by weight based on the total weight of the dry-blend composition on a moisture-free basis, (a) from about 65% to about 98% plant protein material, (b) from about 1% to about 10% hydrocolloid, wherein the hydrocolloid is selected from the group consisting of alginate, pectin, agar, methylcellulose, and mixtures thereof; and (c) optionally, no more than about 14% starch.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a solid dose form comprising a film coating composition encapsulating a core, wherein: (i) the core comprises an active ingredient comprising at least one of a pharmaceutical, veterinary, or nutraceutical active ingredient; (ii) the film coating composition comprises ethylcellulose and guar gum, wherein the guar gum has an apparent viscosity ≥151.0 cps at a shear rate of 50 s−1 in a 1% aqueous guar gum solution measured rotationally at 20° C. after 1 minute equilibration using a 6 cm acrylic cone (1°) on a cone-plate viscometer wherein the shear is ramped up linearly from 1 to 50 s−1 in 25 steps over 29 seconds; (iii) the dose form provides controlled release of the active ingredient; (iv) the guar gum is present in an amount greater than 5 wt % based on the weight of the guar gum and ethylcellulose; and (v) the dose form is ethanol resistant.

摘要: This invention relates to making and using a stabilizer that is effective in small amounts and, particularly useful for stabilizing low solids liquids, e.g., dispersions, emulsions, and suspensions, used in foods, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and similar industrial applications, which comprises, microcrystalline cellulose, (preferably, colloidal hydrolyzed MCC); a first carboxymethyl cellulose having a viscosity of 30-85 cP at 2% in deionized water; and, a degree of carboxymethyl substitutions of 0.60 to 0.85, and a second carboxymethyl cellulose having a viscosity of 400-800 cP at 2% in deionized water, and a degree of carboxymethyl substitutions of 0.80 to 0.95; and, the stabilizer may be made by preparing a moist MCC “wetcake”; thoroughly mixing the wetcake with a dry blended mixture of low DS and medium DS, CMCs; preferably, in a MCC/low DS CMC/medium DS CMC ratio range of about 88/6/6 to about 92/4/4, adding that mixture to an extruder; preparing a slurry of the extrudate in deionized water; and, optionally, pumping the slurry to a spray dryer to produce a powder.

摘要: Ethylcellulose dispersions in water are film forming compositions that have found use in personal care applications. Conventional methods can require that aqueous dispersions of water-insoluble polymers such as ethylcellulose be obtained using surfactants such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). There is a desire to reduce the degree of consumer exposure to SLS in personal care products. The present invention describes ethylcellulose dispersions comprising surfactants to substantially replace sodium lauryl sulfate. The present invention also describes methods of reducing or substantially eliminating SLS in personal care products that comprise ethylcellulose dispersions.
