摘要: A system for the collection, management, and dissemination of information relating at least to a medical procedure is disclosed. The system includes a user interface adapted to provide raw data information at least about one of a patient, the medical procedure, and a result of the medical procedure. A medical device communicates with the user interface, receives the raw data information from the user interface, and generates operational information during use. A central database communicates at least with the medical device and receives data from the medical device. The central database is used to create related entries based on the raw data information and the operational information and optionally transmits the related entry to the medical device or the medical device user. The related entry includes information that provides guidance based on previously tabulated, related medical procedures. A system for the iterative analysis of medical standards is also disclosed along with methods for the evaluation of medical procedures and standards.

摘要: A device for injection of a fluid into a patient includes a container adapted to hold the fluid and defining an outlet through which the fluid can exit the container. A pressurizing mechanism is in connection with the container for pressurizing the fluid, and an actuator is in fluid connection with the outlet. The actuator has a first state in which fluid is prevented from flowing through the outlet and a second state in which fluid can flow through the outlet. The injection device further includes a flow regulator to control the flow rate of fluid in fluid connection with the outlet. The container, the pressurizing mechanism, the actuator and the flow regulator can be MR compatible, thereby making the device suitable for use in or near the bore of an MR scanner.

摘要: A method of substituting an MRI incompatible pump for delivering fluid to a patient with an MRI compatible pump, both pumps being microprocessor controlled. The first pump operates upon administration tubing for pumping fluid from a source thereof to the patient. The method includes the steps of: providing the second pump to be substituted for the first pump; providing second tubing having a portion thereof that is operable to function with the second pump; connecting the second tubing to the administration tubing to establish an altered fluid path from the source to the patient, the altered path including portions of both the administration and second tubing; placing the second pump for operation upon the second tubing to enable the second pump to pump the fluid through the altered path according to programming thereof; and disconnecting the first pump from the administration tubing before bringing the patient into the MRI environment.

摘要: A device for detecting a venous structure or vessels in a patient or animal. The device includes an optical source for transmitting optical energy into the tissue of the patient, an optical detector for detecting at least a portion of the optical energy that is transmitted into and reflected by the tissue, and an indicator operably associated with the optical source and the optical detector. The indicator is adapted to indicate relative changes in the detected reflection or scattering of the optical energy transmitted into the tissue of the patient.
