    摘要: Controlling a feature of an encoding process for regions of an image pattern representing more than one image when the regions include an amount of disparity in the represented images that would result in cross-contamination between the represented images if encoded with the feature. The control may be, for example, any of turning the encoding feature off, using the encoding feature less often than when encoding an image pattern representing a single image, negatively biasing the encoding feature, and enabling the encoding feature for regions determined to have zero or near zero disparity and disabling the feature for all other regions. The represented images comprise, for example, any of a stereoscopic view, multiple stereoscopic views, multiple views of a same scene, and multiple unrelated views.

    摘要: A substantially rectangular spectral representation is synthesized, which is adapted to produce image capture device sensor outputs if applied to an image capture device. The synthesized substantially rectangular spectral representation can be utilized in generating output color values of an output color space from image capture device sensor outputs, where the image capture device sensor outputs correspond to an image captured by an image capture device. The generated output color values correspond to colors perceived by the human visual system for the same image as that captured by the image capture device. Image capture device gamut is also determined.

Image quality from MPEG-style video coding may be improved by preserving a higher number of bits during intermediate encoding and decoding processing steps. Problems of inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT) mismatch can be eliminated by exactly matching the IDCT function numerical algorithm of the decoder to the IDCT function numerical algorithm used for the decoding portion of the encoder. Also included is an application of high precision compression to wide dynamic range images by extending the range of the “quantization parameter” or “QP”. The extension of QP may be accomplished either by increasing the range of QP directly, or indirectly through a non-linear transformation. Also included is an application of extended intermediate processing precision and an extended QP range to reduced contrast regions of an image to extend the precision with which the low-contrast portions are compression coded.
