    摘要: An ice skate strip-blade holder that provides a means to remove, replace, tension, and maintain tension in a strip-blade fastened and tensioned on the holder. In a preferred embodiment, the strip-blade holder assembly includes a front segment fixed to the skate plastic superstructure; a latched, pivoting rear segment arranged to apply and maintain tension in the strip-blade. In a preferred embodiment, the pivot and latch are positioned such that the pivot carries the majority of the tensile load maintained in the strip-blade and the latch carries a minor component of this tensile load. This arrangement provides for easy latch release. The latch provides release of the rear segment for subsequent pivoting and unhooking of the strip-blade for replacement.

    摘要: A screen bar segment for use in forming a screen and frame assembly in which screen can be adhesively secured to the frame. The screen bar segment includes a tensioning step along one side thereof and adhesive applied along the base of the tensioning step, in an amount to provide a layer having a thickness between about 0.0005 to about 0.250 inches. The adhesive is selected from the group consisting of hot melt adhesives and thermoplastic resins having a heat resistance temperature of not less than about 35° C. and a viscosity of at most about 5000 poise at about 200° C. The screen bar segment can be used in a screen and frame assembly in which screen is adhesively secured to a screen frame. Also disclosed are related methods of making a screen bar and adhesive assembly, adhesively securing screen to screen bar segments of a screen frame and making a screen and frame assembly in which screen is adhesively secured to a screen frame.

    摘要: A frame includes a plurality of screen bar segments. To form the screen bar, a flat malleable strip is provided. The strip is roll-formed to form a tube having a tensioning step on its face. The tensioning step extends along a length of the tube. The tensioning step has a mounting surface, which may be the bottom of the tensioning step. A hot-melt adhesive is applied to the mounting surface. The screen is spread across the frame, so that the screen extends over the mounting surface of each screen bar segment. The screen is secured to the face of the frame with an adhesive at a plurality of positions across a length of the mounting surface of at least one screen bar segment. The adhesive may be a hot melt adhesive. The screen is inserted with a plurality of pins to intermittently suspend the screen in the adhesive across the length of the screen bar segment. An apparatus for securing the screen to the screen bar segment includes a support surface that holds a screen bar segment. A heat source applies heat directly to the adhesive to melt the adhesive on the screen bar segment. The apparatus is capable of actuating the pins to cause the screen to contact the adhesive. The pins may embed the screen deeply enough to contact the mounting surface beneath the pins, while the screen is intermittently suspended in the adhesive between pins.

In one example, the body has at least three V-shaped cuts partially through it. Each V-shaped cut leaves an edge of the body uncut. The body is folded about each uncut edge so that the ends of the body meet at a corner. Each V-shaped cut subtends an angle &thgr; that is slightly less than 90 degrees, so that the folded corners are in compression. The assembly further includes a single corner key for joining the ends of the body into a closed frame. A reinforcement clip can be used in each folded corner.

    摘要: An insulating spacer for creating a thermally insulating bridge between inner and outer panes of, for example, a multiple pane window unit. The spacer defines an insulated space between the panes and includes a top bridge member, first and second metallic leg members, a bottom bridge member and a channel portion. The top bridge member is provided for contacting the inner and outer panes of the window unit. The top bridge member is made of a synthetic resin or composite material and can include openings. Perforated extensions of the first and second leg members are secured to the top bridge member. The first and second leg members can be bent into a zig-zag configuration. The bottom bridge member is substantially parallel to the top bridge member and cooperates with the first and second leg members. The channel portion is defined by the configuration of the top bridge member, the first and second leg members and the bottom bridge member. In one embodiment, the bottom bridge member is roll-formed from the same piece of metal as the first and second leg members. In another embodiment, the bottom bridge member is formed from a material similar to, or the same as, that of the top bridge member. Methods of making such an insulating spacer also are disclosed.
