    摘要: A tire cord having core filaments preformed into a helical configuration while maintaining the core filaments in a parallel, side-by-side relationship. The core filaments are not twisted or stranded together. High tensile strength sheath filaments are also preformed into a flattened helical configuration so that the sheath filaments can be wrapped around the side-by-side core filaments such that the sheath filaments do not put such tension on the core filaments as to cause the core filaments to bunch. The core filaments are maintained in a flat, side-by-side configation so that no voids are formed and rubber can penetrate into the tire cord. The core filaments may number from three to six and the sheath filaments from one to seven. The cross-section of the tire cord is flattened and confined within an oval-shaped outer bound, the oval outer bound being characterized by a major axis and a minor axis. It is desirable that the minor axis be no greater than 60% of the major axis to created the appropriate difference in the bending modulus of the tire cord in the horizontal versus the vertical direction.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for sealing between a movable vehicular closure and body, especially adapted for an automobile, is disclosed. A deflatable sealing member forms a weatherstrip to seal the opening in the vehicle body and includes an operable tubular portion and an integral mounting portion. The sealing member is designed for resilient interference engagement between the closure and the body when expanded by the built-in resilient memory. The closure is mounted so as to provide relative transverse movement between the sealing member and one of said closure and said body during closing. In order to deflate the sealing member, a vacuum source, which may be a bellows pump, separate electric pump, engine vacuum, or the like, is connected to the single port of the sealing member and is activated at least during the closing of the closure. After closing, the control valves switch from the vacuum source to a vent to ambient pressure thereby inflating the sealing member. With the sealing member deflated, the closing effort of the closure is substantially reduced and compression shock inside the vehicle is eliminated. Two alternative embodiments featuring the alternative vacuum sources and valving arrangements are included. Also, a relatively non-deflatable bumper portion of the sealing member is disclosed to absorb shock during closing.

    摘要: Disclosed is a pulsation dampening system for high-pressure (e.g., 10K psi and higher) fluid lines. At high fluid flow pressures, the dampening system is a dual stage dampening system, responsive to low (e.g., when first charging the fluid line) and to very high-pressure pulsations. An external containment shell handles the full fluid flow pressures. One or more internal shells contain and handle the internal gas dampening system. The in-flow relationship of the gas dampening component assures that pressure differences between the internal gas handling system and the high-pressure fluid flow is always relatively small. This enables the gas handling components to be constructed of less robust material than the external shell (even though the gas system's internal pressure can equal that of the fluid flow), and be less susceptible to pressure failure.

    摘要: An aerosolization apparatus comprises a body having an inlet, an endpiece having an outlet, the endpiece being connectable to the body to define a chamber, wherein the chamber is sized to receive a capsule containing a pharmaceutical formulation in a manner which allows the capsule to move within the chamber. The apparatus further includes a connection mechanism to provide selective connection of the endpiece to the body, wherein a rotational force between the endpiece and the body is needed to connect or disconnect the endpiece from the body, the rotational force being applied about an axis passing through the chamber. When a user inhales, air enters into the chamber through the inlet so that the pharmaceutical formulation is aerosolized within the chamber and the aerosolized pharmaceutical formulation is delivered to the user through the outlet. The connection mechanism prevents inadvertent disconnection of the endpiece from the body.
