The passenger vehicle includes a chassis and body with a passenger compartment including a substantially U-shaped roof construction, which covers at least some of the seats of the vehicle in which portions of the roof construction can be removed. The substantially U-shaped roof construction includes at least two shape retaining, nestable roof elements that are movable relative to each other and are positioned at least one behind another, at least when in a covering position.

    摘要: A vehicle and method of operation having a first door, a second door, an inflatable door seal assembly and an inflator assembly. The first door has a first opening side and a first seal mount extending along the first opening side. The second door has a second opening side adjacent to the first opening side to define a gap and a second seal mount extending along the second opening side. The door seal assembly has a first seal assembly mounted to one of the first or second seal mounts, the first seal assembly inflatable to extend into the gap toward the other of the seal mounts when the first and second door are closed and deflatable to retract from the gap. The inflator assembly pumps a fluid into the seal assembly to inflate the seal assembly and pumps the fluid out to deflate the seal assembly.

    摘要: A seal for a sliding glass window includes a sliding glass guide and an elastomeric channel member that is at least partially disposed within the sliding glass guide. Located between the elastomeric channel member and the sliding glass guide is an electroactive actuator that is operable to change its shape from a first shape to a second shape, or vice versa, when a voltage is applied thereto. The first shape of the electroactive actuator pushes the elastomeric channel member towards the sliding glass window and the second shape pulls the elastomeric channel member away from the sliding glass window.

    摘要: A deflatable sealing member forms a weatherstrip to seal a closure opening. The sealing member includes an operative tubular section designed to provide tight interference engagement between the closure and vehicle body when vented to atmosphere and expanded by built-in resilient memory. A bellows pump is connected to the sealing member through a flow control circuit. The bellows pump serves to deflate the sealing member during closing of the closure. The bellows pump is adapted for convenient mounting in a cavity in the closure or vehicle body spaced from the closure hinge area. A flexible cable connects the bellows pump to the closure or vehicle body to provide the necessary actuation for operation of the bellows pump in response to the swinging movement of the closure. As the closure closes, a bleed port of fixed or variable size located at the pump vents the sealing member to ambient pressure, and the sealing member expands by resilient memory to its full cross section so as to provide a tight seal.

    摘要: A box-like sealable container for transporting and discharging material includes an improved tailgate and tailgate seal. The container has walls which define an opening, and the tailgate attached thereto has a periphery that overlies the opening. The tailgate seal is an elongated tubular member mounted inside a metal channel fastened on an outer wall of the container about the opening. When pressurized, the tubular member expands out of the channel and sealingly engages the tailgate if the tailgate is in a closed first position. Reinforcement members mounted on an outer wall of the tailgate prevent tailgate distortion.

    摘要: In an automatically opened and closed mechanism, such a power window, a sunroof or the like, which is opened and closed automatically, a contact sensitive control apparatus according to the invention includes a sealed tube stretched on a frame of an opened and closed portion. A change in the pressure within the tube produced by contact with the frame when the opened and closed portion is closed is sensed by a pressure sensor. When the change in the pressure is detected, the closing of the opened and closed portion is stopped at once. This allows the occurrence of an accident of injury to be prevented in advance which includes portion of a human body being pinned by the window or the like when the opened and closed portion is closed.

The hollow space (8)serves as an aid in window removal by being filled with compressed air with the aid of a hollow needle (9). In this way, the elastically or plastically distortable adhesive bead (4) is expanded, and the glass pane is pushed out of the window-frame (3) sufficiently that the separation of the adhesive bead (4) is considerably facilitated.
