Abstract:
A system (D) is dedicated to managing the changing of channels between a network controller (BSCn) and at least one network equipment (MS-i) in a communications network. The system includes management means (M) that are adapted, when a connection for sending and/or receiving data has been set up on a first channel (C1) between the network controller (BSCn) and the network equipment (MS-i), to instruct the network controller (BSCn), firstly, to send the network equipment (MS-i) a message on the first channel (C1) instructing it to continue the connection on a second channel (C2) and to maintain the first channel (C1) until it receives data and/or acknowledgments of data from the equipment (MS-i) on the second channel (C2), and, secondly, to release the resources associated with the first channel (C1) on receiving data and/or acknowledgments of data on the second channel (C2).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for connecting a terminal (13) over an access network (12), herein called remote access network, to a core part (10) of a radio communication network, said radio communication network comprising said core network (10) and a dedicated radio access network (11) different from said remote access network (12). According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: interfacing over a gateway (141, 142) said remote access network (12) to an entity (103, 104) of said core network (10), said entity (103, 104) being an element of said core network (10) at the interface between said core network (10) and another communication network; performing at said gateway (141, 142) a protocol stack translation for mapping protocols used in said remote access network (12) to protocols used in said entity (103, 104) of said core network (10); controlling the connection over said remote access network (12) by said core network (10).
Abstract:
The invention provides mobile radio system access network equipment including means for coordinating resources for circuit-switched mode services and packet-switched mode services, which resource coordination means are limited to means for coordinating sending circuit-switched mode service paging messages to a mobile station in packet-switched mode.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of protecting the integrity of messages sent between a mobile terminal and a server radio access network controller in a mobile radio system, in which method a message sent is protected by a code calculated on sending and, in the event of a change of server radio access network controller from a source controller to a target controller, a message sent to the mobile terminal by the source controller, for forwarding to the mobile terminal information created in the target controller and then transferred by the target controller to the source controller, is protected by a code calculated in the target controller.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for providing service management to network elements of a cellular communication network, said network elements communicating with an Operation and Maintenance Center of said cellular communication network by sending data having a data exchange format, said data exchanged format being translated in an Operation and Maintenance Center specific data format at a mediation server. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: identifying at said mediation server a change in said used data exchange format; dynamically switching from an old data exchange format to said new identified data exchange format.
Abstract:
A method for selecting a modulation and coding scheme including schemes comprising a plurality of coding schemes and at least one modulation scheme, which scheme is to be applied to a downlink connection in a cellular radio system, the method comprising: selecting from a table a MCS value on the basis of at least one measured radio link parameter; monitoring the at least one parameter, determining a trend of change of the at least one parameter, and modifying at least one MCS value in the table taking into account the determined trend. By modifying MCS values in an existing MCS table, the table can be adapted to the existing radio conditions. Thus, the downlink throughput is increased.
Abstract:
The basic idea is provide several spare boards at least on thereof being associated to a different chain of boards. By connecting the spare boards of the different board chains, a pool of spare boards is obtained. Thus, the associations of the spare boards to respective chains are, at least virtually, resolved allowing to employ the spare boards for healing of failures for any of the boards in the different chains. In particular, the present inventions allows a healing of several failures independently of the location of a failure in the chains. The number of spare boards in the different chains determines the number of pool spare boards and, thus, the minimum number of failures which can be healed. In order to increase the number healable failures, the number of spare boards in the different chains can be increased. Further, it contemplated to operate and to re-configure at least one of the board(s) originally forming one of the different chains, spare board(s) already used for failure healing and chain(s) such that an increased number failures are compensated without the need for an increased number of spare boards.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for detecting errors in a real-time data entity received at a receiver of a radio communication network, the real-time data entity being transported in a radio block over a radio channel, the real time data frame comprising at least two bit portions having different relevance. According to the present invention, the method comprises the steps of: i estimating a first bit error rate for a first bit portion; ii checking if the first estimated bit error rate is higher than a first predefined threshold, iii estimating a second bit error rate for a second bit portion having a lower relevance than the first bit portion; iv checking if the second estimated bit error rate is higher than a second predefined threshold higher than the first predefined threshold, v replacing the entire real-time data entity by using a concealment algortihm if one of the checks is true.
