摘要: A ballistic garage door assembly and a kit for converting a standard garage door uses sheets of ballistic material secured to the exterior shell of the standard garage door panels along with inserts at the joints between adjacent garage door panels. Joint inserts applied to the horizontal ends of the garage door panels provide bullet resistant characteristics at the joints. Aluminum sheets with multiple plies of ballistic material between the aluminum sheets are applied to the entire garage door shell. Insulated foam is place on the innermost aluminum sheet to provide additional ballistic performance for the converted garage door. Increased levels of ballistic protection will utilize thicker aluminum panels and an additional external ballistic bumper to increase ballistic performance of the joints between the garage door panels. The outward aesthetic appearance of the garage door does not change appreciably, although a door lift with greater horsepower may be required.

摘要: Rigid wall shelters are used throughout the world for shipping, living quarters, and housing for electronic systems and are energy inefficient. While investigating energy-efficient technologies for rigid wall shelters the discovery was made to insulate the outside of the shelter rather than the inside. Space is often limited inside of the shelter. The invention of an external, re-deployable insulation system was developed. The present invention is an insulating system composed of three main components. The first component is multiple, purpose cut flexible envelopes filled with insulating materials (which creates a panel). The second component is multiple insulating strips that cover the joint between the panels. The final component is a weatherproof outer covering that protects the entire system from the elements.

摘要: This disclosure is directed to an improved ballistic concrete mixture which is operable to be cast in many forms such as blocks. The improved ballistic concrete mixture provides an effective barrier for stopping projectiles with a kinetic energy of between about 1.0 kJ (750 foot-pounds) and 20.3 kJ (15,000 foot-pounds) in between about 3 inches and 10 inches such as a fifty-caliber round. The improved ballistic concrete mixture is useful in the erecting of new structures which need ballistics protection or for retrofitting existing structures with ballistics protection.

摘要: A comprehensive bulletproof protective system can include a method for enhancing the safety of students and staff during shooting incidents within a classroom setting. The system can include a bulletproof partition, which can include a single panel or a series of interconnected panels, and can be fixed in place or can be deployed in a rolling or sliding manner. The partition can extend from the ceiling to the floor of the classroom, utilizing a track on the floor and a ceiling track for its movement. Additionally, a remote monitoring system can be included, capable of automatically activating the partition upon detecting a shooter, as determined by one or more cameras monitoring the outside of the school. The partition functions to create a safety chamber, shielding occupants from harm by covering walls, doorways, and/or windows.

摘要: A shielding system includes a plurality of transportable modules, wall panels, or pods that are connectable to form a containment area and to define a radiation barrier. Each of the plurality of transportable modules has a first radiation wall defining the containment area, a second radiation wall spaced apart from the second wall, and a radiation shielding fill material positioned between the first radiation shielding wall and the second radiation shielding wall. The radiation shielding fill material includes one of a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) filling a portion of a void between the first radiation wall and the second radiation wall, or a non-Newtonian fluid completely filling the void between the first radiation wall and the second radiation wall. A quantity of the radiation shielding fill material is sufficient to substantially reduce measurable radiation level outside the containment area.

摘要: A defense mobile device for securing a door during shelter-in-place situations. The device includes wheels rendering it mobile and stops that, when activated, hold the device stationary. A panel has a ballistic core that resists bullets, a front face, an opening, and a cover positioned over the opening to overlay and enclose a door knob protruding through the opening. The front face forms, or has affixed to it, a writing surface. The panel pivots between a plurality of angled positions to facilitate writing and an upright position flat against the door. A locking rod, rotatably connected to the panel, pushes and pulls the panel between its angled positions and its upright position. A portal defined by a ballistic door viewer or viewport is located in the panel and permits viewing or observing through the panel. A release system is configured to deactivate the stop and enable the device to move.
