摘要: A time signal receiver and decoder receives, detects and stores time information from time signals, e.g., WWV, WWVH, WWVB (USA), JJY (Japan), MSF (UK) and the like. The time information may be used for a self setting clock, and the clock may be used as a reference in time sensitive applications, devices and systems. The time signal receiver may use a high-Q state variable bandpass filter or an anti-notch filter circuit for selectivity at the time signal frequency of interest. The decoder is coupled to the time signal receiver, decodes the time information in the received time signal and may store the decoded time information.

摘要: Diseases associated with the tissues in the posterior segment of the eye can be effectively treated by administering therapeutic agents transsclerally to those tissues. Compositions, devices, and methods for delivering therapeutic agents so that they cross the sclera and reach these tissues include injecting solutions or suspensions adjacent to or within the sclera and implanting solid structures containing the therapeutic agent adjacent to or within the sclera. These methods may be used for administering rapamycin or related compounds to treat choroidal neovascularization associated with age-related macular degeneration.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling the movement of a surface traversing apparatus across a member which has an ordered array of openings in it's surface. Move control routines are provided, each of which instruct the traversing apparatus to move incrementally over the surface of the member by disengaging, incrementally moving, and re-engaging one of two stepping arms. Each routine operates to advance the apparatus an increment in one of a number of directions. Some of the routines move the apparatus parallel to lines or rows of openings. Others move the apparatus diagonally. Each routine senses the relative positioning of the two stepping arms to establish the sequence of operations and returns the stepping arm to its former position if it is unable to complete a step. An automatic selection operation may move the apparatus toward a target opening by comparing the present location of the apparatus with the target address and selecting a routine which minimizes the number of move increments needed to get to the target.

摘要: Bioadhesive nanoparticulate compositions, comprising active agent particles and one or more cationic surface stabilizers, are described. The cationic surface stabilizers prevent aggregation of the nanoparticles and increase bioadhesion of the nanoparticles to biological substrates, such as an insect, teeth, bone, nails, chitin, feathers, scales, mucous, skin, hair, plant tissue, etc. The particles may consist of pharmacologically active compounds (e.g., drug compounds for human or veterinary use), agricultural chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and the like), cosmetic agents, consumer products (coloring agents, flavors, or fragrances), or other materials which function by interacting with biological substrates. In addition, the invention relates to methods of preparing and using such bioadhesive nanoparticulate compositions.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of extracting devices and related methods. One example device for extracting an object from a material includes a frame attachable to the object to be extracted. An advancer is provided in the frame. An extraction rod is selectively movable through the frame and advancer to position the extraction rod against a surface alongside an exposed portion of the object. A movable handle is pivotally attached to the frame and operable to move the advancer against the extraction rod positioned against the surface, to move the frame along the extraction rod, and the object to which the frame is attached, away from the material.
