摘要:
A recessed connectorized faceplate assembly is disclosed for connecting multiple cables at the front of an electronics equipment shelf. The recessed connectorized faceplate assembly includes a connectorized faceplate defining the back wall of a cabling volume behind where a standard faceplate would normally be situated. The cabling volume has an aperture admitting cables routed from a cable trough situated between equipment shelves. The front of the cabling volume is preferably defined by a hinged faceplate granting access to the cabling volume. Access is further enhanced via a pivoting panel forming one of the sidewalls. A bridging cable connecting the circuit card containing the faceplate to the backplane allows partial withdrawal of the card while maintaining connections. The recessed connectorized faceplate assembly is particularly useful for overcoming accidental cable and connector damage due to incidental contact as compared to exposed connectorized faceplates known in the art, and for providing a more aesthetically pleasing appearance to an equipment shelf front.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for managing and storing excess amounts of fiber-optic cable in a telecom rack. According to one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a fiber-optic cable slack take-up device attached to an arm. The arm is mounted to a supporting member attached to a side of the telecom rack and movable from a first stored position to a second deployed position. Access to the fiber-slack take-up device is provided by situating the arm in the second position. Situating the arm in the stored position places the slack take-up assembly, along with the excess fiber-optic cable, out of the way of operators working in the equipment aisle. Further embodiments provide means for safe-guarding the minimum bend radius of fiber-optic cable being used. The apparatus and method are useful for overcoming the space requirements of in-rack fiber storage systems known in the art.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for connecting a power feeder cable at a point for convenient operator access to an electrical subsystem located inside of a telecom equipment assembly. According to one embodiment, the terminal connection of the power feeder cable to the power entry point is positioned so as to be conveniently accessible to an operator from the telecom equipment aisle. According to another embodiment, a linking bus structure comprising, a first connector, a conducting path and a second connector, is mounted inside the telecom equipment assembly with the first connector positioned at the front panel of the telecom equipment assembly and conveniently accessible to an operator from the telecom equipment aisle. The apparatus and method are useful for overcoming difficulties normally encountered during inspection and maintenance of the connection of the power feeder cable at its terminal connection in a telecom equipment assembly.

A method of electrical isolation for printed circuit board gasketing is disclosed for enabling gasketing to overlay plated through holes without shorting out thereto. The method of electrical isolation for printed circuit board gasketing includes counterboring at a controlled width to a controlled depth those plated through holes underlying the gasketing. The method provides the advantage of being able to overlay gasketing on both surfaces of a printed circuit board mid-plane. The method of electrical isolation for printed circuit board gasketing is particularly useful for overcoming the additional material requirements and processing steps of electrical isolation known in the art.

An air flow distribution system for a telecommunication equipment assembly is disclosed. The telecommunications equipment assembly includes a chassis. The chassis is formed by wall panels and includes a first side, a second side, a bottom end section, a top end section, electronic apparatuses regions and a plenum region having plenum region boundaries. The telecommunication equipment assembly also includes a first side air input port and a second side air input port in the bottom end section of the chassis. The input ports permit cooling air to be drawn into the chassis. An output port is provided in the top end section of the chassis. A fan holder is located along one of the plenum region boundaries. The fan holder receives a fan to facilitate air movement in conjunction with the plenum region. The air movement includes movement along air flow paths through the electronic apparatuses regions. The electronic apparatuses and plenum regions are located above the input ports and below the output port. The electronic apparatuses regions border another of the plenum region boundaries.
