摘要: The method for screening binding between a target binder and potential pharmaceutical chemicals involves sending a solution (preferably an aqueous solution) of the target binder through a conduit to a size exclusion filter, the target binder being too large to pass through the size exclusion filter, and then sending a solution of one or more potential pharmaceutical chemicals (preferably an aqueous solution) through the same conduit to the size exclusion filter after target binder has collected on the filter. The potential pharmaceutical chemicals are small enough to pass through the filter. Afterwards, x-rays are sent from an x-ray source to the size exclusion filter, and if the potential pharmaceutical chemicals form a complex with the target binder, the complex produces an x-ray fluorescence signal having an intensity that indicates that a complex has formed.

摘要: A modular case and method of forming the same, the case preferably formed from a plurality of panels, edge members and corner pieces having ribs. The panels, edge members and corner pieces are preferably connected to align the ribs, forming substantially continuous ribs capable of distributing forces over a large area of the modular case. The case is most preferably made of plastic, the connections preferably being hot-plate welds. Most preferably, the panels and edge members have a dual skin construction with internal ribs, proving for greater strength and allowing for superior structural properties including air-/water-tight integrity. Edge members are preferably formed with protuberances to allow for better base-to-lid and case-to-case engagement. Hardware attachments to the modular case can be advantageously made while distributing the force on attachment points and without compromising structural integrity.

摘要: Flow method and apparatus for screening chemicals using micro x-ray fluorescence. The invention includes a method and apparatus for screening a mixture of potential pharmaceutical chemicals for binding to at least one target binder. According to the method, after preparing a solution of potential pharmaceutical chemicals with at least one target binder, the solution is flow-separated into at least two separated components. Each component is exposed to an x-ray excitation beam. Any component that emits a detectable x-ray fluorescence signal is isolated.

摘要: A device for use with at least one workspace, to produce an umbrella of clean room air for a distance of one meter from the device and 98% fewer particles than the air in the area three meters from the device. The device has a chamber defined by an outer wall, end walls and a filter as the inner wall. The filter functions as tile sole outlet of air. A motor with an axially extending drive shaft is mounted inside said filter. The shaft has an intake fan mounted on one end to define a sealed path which is the sole air inlet to the chamber. An exhaust fan is mounted on the other end of the shaft to define a path from the sole outlet. Air is exhausted in an axial direction is then deflected from the axial direction to the radial direction onto a baffle to reduce the velocity of the air to laminar flow. The baffle includes an upper terminal lid and a plurality of annular stepped vanes that divide the axially exhausted air into turbulent air streams and converts the turbulent air streams into radial laminar flow.
