This frame-work is based on using energy-aware metrics for resource allocation and link adaptation. By casting the optimal energy-efficient resource allocation problem as utility-based optimization problem, low-complexity utility-based resource allocation schemes developed here can be applied to reduce the complexity of resource allocation decisions.

Further, the transmit path maps a plurality virtual resource blocks (VRB) to a plurality of available physical resource blocks (PRB) within a limited bandwidth of the sub-frame.
