    摘要: An illumination system comprising, a) a light source; b) a light-directing assembly (1) in close proximity to the light source and comprising a plurality of microprisms (6), each microprism comprising an input surface (7) that admits light radiating from the light source, an output surface (8) distal from and parallel to the input surface (7), and at least one sidewall (9) disposed between and contiguous with the input and output surfaces and forming an obtuse tilt angle with respect to the input surface (7) and further positioned for effecting total reflection of the light rays received by the input surface (7), the sidewalls (9) of the microprisms (6) defining interstitial regions (10) between the microprisms (6); c) at least one blocking means (11) positioned to block the passage of light through the sidewalls (9); and d) an optical means (2, 3, 4) located between the light source and the light-directing assembly (1), with the special feature that e) said optical means (2, 3, 4) comprise a reflective powder (4) to at least substantially shield the blocking means (11) from direct exposure to lig radiated from the light source.

    摘要: A light-collimating system for collimating light from a light source has a plurality of elements (2, 2′, . . . ), each element including at least a first wall (3, 3′, . . . ) and at least a second wall (4, 4′, . . . ). The first (3) and second wall (4′) of adjacent elements are spaced with respect to each other at a side of the light-collimating system facing the light source, the spacing defining an aperture window (5, 5′, . . . ) for admitting light into the light-collimating system. The first and second wall of said adjacent elements form a wedge-shaped structure widening in a direction facing away from the light source. The first and the second wall are provided with a specular reflecting surface at a side facing the wedge-shaped structure. According to the invention, the wedge angle (w of the first and second wall with respect to the normal on the aperture window are adjustable for enabling adjustable collimation.

    摘要: A plasma display panel having a structured black matrix (8) which is coated with a reflecting layer (9) on the side turned away from the viewer. Visible light incident from outside is absorbed by the black matrix (8) and light incident from inside is reflected by the reflecting layer (9). This enhances the LCP value of the whole plasma screen. A protective layer (5) such as MgO is deposited on the black matrix and reflecting layer and so formed over the black matrix and said reflecting layer so as to reduce undesired reactions of the black matrix and the reflecting layer with the dielectric layer, such as during high temperature conditions during manufacture.
