    摘要: A foamable fluoropolymer composition containing foam cell nucleating agent is provided, wherein the fluoropolymer comprises melt-fabricable tetrafluoroethylene-/hexafluoropropylene copolymer and tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer, wherein the alkyl contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, wherein the melting temperature of said tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer is no more than 35° C. greater than the melting temperature of said tetrafluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer, and/or wherein said tetrafluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer and said tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer each have a melt flow rate (MFR) within the range of 1 to 40 g/10 min and the MFR of one of said copolymers is at least twice that of the other of said copolymers.

    摘要: A melt-mixed composition of non-melt flowable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and melt-fabricable perfluoropolymer is provided that exhibits thixotropy at increasing shear rate in the molten state and high elongation at break even at PTFE concentrations well above 4 wt %, based on the combined weight of the PTFE and the perfluoropolymer, e.g. at least 200% up to at least 30 wt % PTFE, the composition also exhibiting the structure of a dispersion of submicrometer-size particles of the PTFE in a continuous phase of the melt-fabricable perfluoropolymer.

    摘要: A polymerization process is provided to form a copolymer of ethylene with tetrafluoroethylene and a modifying monomer having a side chain containing at least two carbon atoms by initiating the polymerization in an aqueous medium with a fluoromonomer that forms a stable dispersion of polymer particles from the fluoromonomer in the aqueous medium, which forms polymerization sites for further polymerization, and carrying the further polymerization by copolymerizing the ethylene, tetrafluoroethylene, and modifying monomer as a dispersion in at least said aqueous medium to a polymer solids content of at least 15 wt %, said copolymer comprising at least 60 wt % of the total polymer content of the polymer solids.
