    摘要: A translation device which has both advantages of a table look-up translation device and advantages of a machine translation device by leading the user's utterance through a sentence template suitable for the user's intent of speech is realized. Since the translation device searches for sentence templates suitable for the user's intent of speech with an orally inputted keyword and displays retrieved sentences, the user's utterance can be lead. In addition, the user is free from a troublesome manipulation for replacing a word since an expression uttered by the user is inserted into a replaceable portion (slot) within the sentence template, and the translation device translates a resulting sentence with the replaced expression embedded in the slot.

    摘要: By inputting an input text in voice or phonogram and also the source information which is a source of the input text, extracting candidate words composing the input text by analyzing the source information, and using the candidate words, ambiguity in converting the voice or phonogram to characters is eliminated and highly accurate conversion is realized. For example, highly reliable translation is effected by extracting candidate words comprising the translation text using a bilingual dictionary containing words in the source language, translations in the target language, and extracting associated words in the target language which correspond to each other. When ambiguity occurs in converting the voice or phonogram input of the translation text to characters, by selecting the above candidate words preferentially, a voice typewriter for translation or a word processor for translation for converting the inputted translation text to characters a highly accurate translation is realized.

    摘要: In a communication system in which translation is achieved in a bidirectional manner between a first language terminal and a second language terminal, words appearing in sentences inputted from the first-language terminal are memorized so that the memorized words are preferentially selected when determining equivalents in later translations of sentences inputted from the second-language terminal, and vice versa. As means for memorizing an occurring word, a sentence number assigned to an input sentence containing the word may be stored in a word dictionary as activation degree information of the word or an occurring word file may be disposed for sequentially storing therein the occurring word. These items may be stored in combination with terminal user IDs. Various types of function allocation methods are possible. For instance, an input sentence can be analyzed by an input terminal so as to send the analyzed information to a destination terminal, which then generates a translated sentence from the received information a translated sentence obtained by a terminal of an input side can be sent to a terminal of a destination side.

    摘要: A translation method for a machine translation system provided with apparatus for parsing a source language sentence and for forming a target language translation in which a phrase omitted in the source language setence is identified, and a word or phrase to be inserted for the omitted phrase is selected from stored words and phrases. For identifying an omitted phrase, a sentence pattern corresponding to a predicate in the source language sentence is formed so as to include not only cases governed by the predicate but also a semantic feature for each case. By comparing the source language sentence with the sentence pattern, a case which is omitted in the source language sentence but cannot be omitted in the target language translation is identified. For determining a word or phrase to be placed at the position of the omitted phrase, the nouns having appeared in the source language text is stored in a noun, together with the semantic feature, gender, person and number of each noun is searched for a noun having the same semantic feature as the omitted phrase. When a target language translation of the source language sentence is formed, a pronoun having the same gender, person and number as the omitted phrase is used as a target language equivalent for the omitted phrase, and thus a target language translation which is grammatically correct, is obtained.

    摘要: To evaluate by a computer translated sentences obtained from a machine translation system so as to automatically and objectively evaluate quality of the system, a method and an apparatus are provided for automatically evaluating translated sentences. The method includes a first translated sentence analysis step of analyzing sentences resulted from a machine translation, a second translated sentence analysis step of analyzing favorable translated sentences for original sentences, a word/phrase coupling step of analyzing correspondence of words and phrases between the two translated sentences for the same original sentence, and a similarity calculating step of computing similarity between the two translated sentences according to ratios of words and phrases thus related to each other and similarity of the related words and phrases, thereby evaluating the sentences generated through the machine translation.
