The present invention relates to the field of propellent charges for small and medium calibre arms.The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of fragmentable propellent charges, which consists in a first stage in coating powder particles with a mixture of dinitropolystyrene and of a compound of the polyvinyl nitrate and/or polyvinyl acetate type and, in a second stage, in compressing at between 100.degree. C. and 140.degree. C. the powder particles thus obtained.The invention also relates to the fragmentable charges obtained by the process and to the coated particulate powders obtained at the end of the first stage of the process.The fragmentable charges according to the invention exhibit a temperature behaviour which is superior to that of traditional fragmentable charges and are suitable for cartridgeless ammunition intended for arms with a high rate of fire.

A tire of elastic material having a tread extended on both sides by a shoulder followed by a sidewall terminating in a bead, the tire being without reinforcement in the tread and in the sidewalls, is improved due to the fact that between each shoulder and the corresponding sidewall the tire has a zone whose rigidity in the circumferential direction is higher than the rigidity of the adjacent shoulder and adjacent sidewall.

A tire of elastic material, which is at least partially without reinforcement, is formed of a tread with a shoulder on both sides thereof, each shoulder being extended by a sidewall which terminates in a bead. In accordance with the invention, the shoulders are formed by a zone whose circumferential deformations, for a deflection of the tire of between 0% and 30% of the height of the tire on the rim, are substantially equal to the radial deformations of said zone, the tire being mounted on a rim and inflated.

The invention relates to a conical bimetallic facing for hollow charges and a process for the manufacture of a facing of this type comprising two successive stages:A. explosive overlaying of two blanks of metals of different types, one of which metals produces a dense nozzle which is well drawn out, and the other of which metals is able to give rise to a core which disappears either by volatilisation or by disintegration under the conditions of elevated temperature and pressure which develop when the hollow charge is fired, andB. shaping the resulting bimetallic plate by conical flow turning, in order to obtain the desired conical bimetallic facing. The invention is applicable to the manufacture of a conical bimetallic facing for hollow charges.

A pneumatic tire has a tread comprising two wide grooves of circumferential orientation and rows of wide grooves of transverse orientation defining circumferential rows of elements in relief. The tread is characterized by the following combination:A. A middle row and two side rows of elements in relief are formed, separated in each row by grooves of transverse orientation discharging alternately, in the case of the middle row, into the wide grooves of circumferential orientation and, in the case of the side rows, into the adjacent wide groove of circumferential orientation and into the adjacent edge of the tread.B. The grooves of transverse orientation of each row of elements in relief are connected in pairs by grooves of reduced width and at most the same depth as the depth of the longitudinal and transverse grooves.C. The sum of the lengths, projected on a meridian section, of the transversely oriented grooves connected in pairs is between 0.75 and 1.5 times the width of the tread.

The reinforcement of a pneumatic tire comprises, proceeding in a direction from the inside towards the outside of the tire, a carcass reinforcement continuous from bead to bead and three superimposed plies of cords limited to the region of the tread. In the sidewalls of the tire, the cords of the carcass reinforcement form a substantially constant angle with the circumferential direction of the tire of between 70.degree. and 90.degree.. In the tread region of the tire, the cords of the carcass reinforcement form an angle with the circumferential direction of the tire which is smaller than the angle made by those cords in the sidewalls. The cords of the three tread plies form acute angles .alpha., .beta., and .gamma., respectively, with the circumferential direction, and the cord angle .alpha. of the one of the three tread plies nearest the carcass reinforcement and the cord angles .beta. and .gamma. of the second and third of the three plies, respectively, are related as set forth below in mathematical expressions.

A cable for reinforcing objects formed of elastic or easily deformable material, such as automobile tires and conveyor belts, has as conventional components a core and at least one peripheral layer surrounding the core, each component being formed of elements, such as individual wires or strands of wires. The resistance of such a reinforcing cable to fatigue and/or to wear is increased due to the fact that at least two consecutive components in contact with each other in radial direction are constituted of elements made of material having moduli of elasticity which differ from one component to the other.
