The first spring contact comprises a body portion, a resilient contact portion and a fixing portion. The second spring contact comprises a body plate and a fixing portion. When a smart card is inserted the connector, the resilient contact portion of the first spring contact is deflected rearward to contact the second spring contact. Thus, force exerted on the contact portion of the first spring contact is transmitted to the fixing portion of the first spring contact with small deformation.

An I/O shield for an electronic assembly comprises a shielding plate having a reinforcing plate and a resilient plate attached together with a pair of side walls respectively extending from opposite edges thereof and a number of receiving slots disposed therein. The shielding plate is guided into an opening disposed in a chassis of the electronic assembly by the side walls. A number of spaced spring contacts is formed on the side walls by stamping and bending. Each spring contact comprises a base integrally formed with the side wall, a bend and a free end. The tip of the bend is located nearer to the base than to the free end. Thus, the free end will not warp or engage with notches disposed in a peripheral flange of the opening thereby facilitating removal of the I/O shield.

An audio jack comprises an insulative housing (1) defining a plug insertion hole (104) for receiving a contact of a plug connector, and a plurality of fixing terminals (2) and resilient terminals (3) received in corresponding receiving grooves (120, 140) in both sides of the housing. Each resilient terminal comprises a main body (30), a connecting portion (34) perpendicularly extending from the main body, a resilient arm (35) slantwise extending from the connecting portion round and away from the main body, and a contact portion (36) at a free end of the resilient arm extending toward the main body for connecting with the fixing terminal. Before the plug connector is inserted into the plug insertion hole of the audio jack, the contact portion of the resilient terminal abuts against the fixing terminal. When the plug connector is inserted into the plug insertion hole of the audio jack, the contact of the plug connector pushes the contact portion of the resilient terminal away from the fixing terminal thereby establishing signal transmission between the plug connector and the audio jack. The resilient arm of the resilient terminal has enough length to provide the resiliency needed to restore the contact portion to its original position.
