摘要： A method of, and apparatus for, a robotic filter weighing system for weighing filters stored in sample holders which includes a sample cabinet which holds a carousel having a plurality of filter samples contained in a like plurality of sample holders and in which a robotic system is used for removing in turn each of the sample holders and sequentially placing each of the sample holders in a filter extraction station for removing the filter from its respective holder. The robot system then moves the extracted filter to a weighing system which calculates the weight of the particulate matter contained on the filter and then replaces the filter in its sample holder and replaces the sample holder back in the sample cabinet.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for reclaiming tobacco from cigarettes is disclosed. The apparatus and method include a cigarette pack opener and a method of opening cigarette packs wherein the packs are conveyed by an endless conveyor along a path of travel having an arcuate portion and a linear portion. The packs are inputted to the conveyor at the arcuate portion where a pair of circular cutting knives are arranged to cut off the end panels of the pack. The packs are then conveyed to the linear portion of the path where pusher/squeeze bars are urged against the side panels of the pack to deform the pack and cause the cigarettes to fall from the pack by gravity into a collector. The empty pack is conveyed to another arcuate portion of the path where it is discarded.

摘要： Rods for use in the manufacture of smoking products are provided using a rod making apparatus equipped with a web preforming unit. A web of sheet-like material is passed through the web preforming unit and is pleated to form a rod-like composite. The rod-like composite then is circumscribed with wrapping material to provide a rod. The web preforming unit includes an outer frustoconical tube and an inner frustoconical member. The frustoconical member is concentric to the tube, and is positioned coaxially with respect to the tube such that an annular region is formed between the outer surface of the member and the inner surface of the tube.

摘要： A linespacing apparatus includes a slip clutch assembly which is driven by an electric motor. The slip clutch assembly includes a face cam which drives a linkage which, in turn, indexes a platen in order to linespace the platen. The face cam includes an abutment portion which abruptly halts the motion of the linkage and the slip clutch assembly prevents bounce or recoil of the linkage thereby promoting smooth operation of the apparatus. The linkage may be adjusted by an operator to vary the amount of rotation of the platen during each operating stroke of the linkage.

摘要： Alternating current is applied to a bi-directional triode thyristor (triac) and a zero voltage switch, the zero voltage switch controls the operation of the triac to selectively heat a heater element, the thermal energy of the heater element drives a first thermoelectric heat pump (module), acting as a dc power generator, to produce power to drive a second thermoelectric heat pump acting as a cooling or heating source, towards a preselected temperature, a thermally sensitive resistor (thermistor) senses the temperature and generates a resistance corresponding to the temperature, the thermistor is connected to the zero voltage switch in series with a temperature set point resistor (potentiometer) and source of power to form a voltage divider input to the zero voltage switch, whereby when the resistance of the thermistor substantially equals that of the temperature set point resistor the zero voltage switch inhibits the trigger pulses to the triac to cut off ac current to the heater element.

摘要： A platen variable apparatus is disclosed for rotatably adjusting a platen in step increments and in fine amounts in a typewriter. The apparatus includes an individual hub member rotatably mounted on a platen extension and having teeth thereon intermeshed with teeth of a flexspline fixed on the platen extension. A coarse adjusting member is fixedly coupled on the platen extension for positively rotating the platen in step increments controlled by a detent. A rotatable fine adjusting wheel has an internal wave generator surface that cooperates with the flexspline for moving the flexspline relative to the hub member which adjusts the platen in fine amounts.

摘要： A radar is mounted on an airplane with a pair of antennas affixed to the airplane and directed to one side thereof for providing a relatively narrow radar beam squinted approximately 20.degree. ahead of a line transverse to the direction of motion and approximately 20.degree. behind the line, respectively. The radar is constructed to alternately energize the antennas and a visual display system provides individually identifiable visual indications of targets interrupting the beams. The amount a target moves on the visual display between the interruptions of the forward and rearward directed beams provides a direct indication of the direction and speed of the target.

摘要： A ground speed determining radar system for take off roll and landings and roll out maneuvers has a ground based modulating radar reflector and a carrier based radar. The radar transmits microwave energy to the reflector where it is modulated by rotating spaced reflectors and returned to the radar receiver. The receiver is a heterodyne receiver having a log IF stage and a fast time control (FTC) circuit for attenuating clutter and an acquisition loop circuit, lock-on circuit and tracking loop circuit. The acquisition loop circuit includes a center, gate, modulation bandpass filter, switch, acquisition sweep generator and gate generator; the lock-on circuit adds a delay line and a good data indicator to the loop acquisition circuit, and the track loop circuit includes early/late gates, early/late gate low pass filters, subtractor, integrator, the switch and gate generator. Prior to acquisition or upon loss of lock-on, the modulation band pass filter has zero output to the switch and the switch switches in the acquisition sweep generator and a ramp voltage is applied to the early/late gates. During the time the early/late gates are swept over the desired modulated frequency from the ground reflector the modulated band pass filter outputs a signal to the switch which switches in the integrator of the tracking loop. The lock-on circuit's delay means delays the modulation band pass output a time sufficient for the integrator to settle down and spurious noise to the disappear before activiting the data indicator. At times, the early/late gates are not centered on an echo return; thus more echo energy is in one (late) gate than in the other (early gate), for example. The subtractor outputs the difference to the integrator which output a dc voltage proportional to the range to the reflector. A differentiator and range indicator and the switch are connected to the integrator for receiving its dc output and, respectively, outputting velocity and range information and feed back to center the early/late gates on the echo.

摘要： A glass batch feeder for an electrically-heated, glass-melting furnace is provided. The furnace typically includes a glass melting tank with electrodes immersed therein and with a batch feeder extending across the tank and movable back and forth from one end to the other to supply a layer of glass batch over molten glass in the tank. The batch is deposited gently on the top of the batch layer and in a positive, uniform manner to assure proper control of the thickness of the layer. The feeder includes a hopper and a rotatable distributor which intercepts batch from the hopper and deposits it in uniform increments onto the batch layer.
