摘要: Unicompartmental tibial components are described herein. A first unicompartmental component (10) comprises a plate (12) having a bearing surface (18) and an opposing surface (22) that is configured to be secured to a proximal end of a patient's tibia, wherein the plate further comprises an anterior end (24), an outer side (25), a posterior end (26) and an inner side (27), wherein a mediolateral width W of the plate is defined between the outer and inner sides, and a longitudinal anteroposterior axis (28) extends between the anterior and posterior ends approximately one third of the width of the plate (i.e. 1/3 W) from the lateral side, and defines a longitudinal axis length L of the plate. A first elongate peg (14) protrudes from the opposing surface in the anterior portion, the first elongate peg defining a first peg axis (32). A second elongate peg (16) protrudes from the opposing surface in the anterior portion, the second elongate peg defining a second peg axis (34). The first and second peg axes are disposed at an angle of 45-70 degrees with respect to the longitudinal anteroposterior axis and are substantially parallel to one another such that the first and second pegs protrude posteriorly as well as distally with respect to the plate. An anterior portion of the plate comprises a part of the plate defined by an anterior 60% or less of the longitudinal axis length L, whilst a posterior portion of the plate comprises a part of the plate that is defined by the remaining posterior 40% or more of the longitudinal axis length L. The posterior portion of the opposing surface is free from pegs or other fixation devices, and the first and second elongate pegs are located more than half of the mediolateral width W of the plate from an outer edge of the plate. The component is configured for cementless fixation using an interference fit. Also described is a method of installation and a tool suitable for use in installation.

摘要: A ligament assembly (2) comprising a resilient element (20) connected to a bone anchor (4) and a ligament (18), the resilient element (20) acting m a cantilever and resisting toads transmitted between the bone anchor (4) and the ligament (18) by virtue of the resistance to bending of the resilient element. The ligament (18) may comprise an artificial ligament (18) which is adapted to replace a human or animal ligament. The resilient element (20) may comprise a spiral spring and may act as a biasing element/shock absorber operatively coupled to the artificial ligament (18) to control the effective stiffness of the artificial ligament (18). Consequently, the resilient element (20) enables an effective stiffness of the artificial ligament (18) to be achieved that more closely approximates the stiffness of a natural ligament.

The device includes a signpost support that is vertically aligned with a ground post support, wherein the signpost support is disposed above the ground post support that is affixed to a ground post. The signpost support and the ground post support are secured between first vertical support and a second vertical support. The signpost support is pivotally secured to the first and second vertical supports by means of a pivot bolt having a die spring at an end thereof, so that it can pivot forward and backward relative to the first and second vertical supports. The pivot bolt can tighten the die spring so as to keep the signpost support in an upright position but allowing the signpost support to fall into a collapsed position.

摘要: A preferred contact group centric interface for a communication device can be used to facilitate communications by a user. The user interface can be arranged to activate from a user's “home page” on the display, from an idle screen that is accessed after a timeout period expires, or any other appropriate mechanism that activates the preferred contact group centric experience. A user selects the preferred contact group from among an array of the user's contacts. Once the contact group is configured, a minimal number of navigation/selection features is necessary to activate any number of communication modes available to the contacts. The contact group is configured such that simple and quick navigation between the contact members is achieved. The contact group can be presented in 2D and 3D arrangements, in any number of list or geometric configurations. A pricing plan can optionally be tied to each member of the contact group.

摘要: A kit of parts for use in unicondylar meniscal bearing knee replacement comprises a plurality of meniscal bearings, each meniscal bearing comprising a body defining a dished first bearing surface on one side thereof and a second surface on an opposing side of the body. Each meniscal bearing has an entrapment between 3.2 mm and 3.8 mm. Meniscal bearings and methods of performing unicondylar meniscal bearing replacements are also described.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of predicting pregnancy outcome in a subject by determining the amount of an early pregnancy associated molecular isoform of hCG in a sample. The present invention further provides a method for determining the amount of early pregnancy associated molecular isoforms of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a sample. The present invention also provides a diagnostic kit for determining the amount of early pregnancy associated hCG in a sample. The present invention additionally provides an antibody which specifically binds to an early pregnancy associated molecular isoform of human chorionic gonadotropin. Finally, the present invention provides methods for detecting trophoblast or non-trophoblast malignancy in a sample.

摘要: The invention concerns a tibial prosthetic component comprising a plate (100) for forming a tibial plateau of a tibia (16), wherein a peripheral region of the plate (100) has a thickness of less than 3 mm. The invention also concerns a tibial prosthetic component having a keel of depth less than 9 mm. The invention also concerns a method of selecting a tibial prosthetic component comprising receiving measurements of at least one physical attribute of an individual into whom the tibial prosthetic component is to be implanted, selecting a thickness of a plate (100) and depth of keel of the tibial prosthetic component based on the measurements and providing a tibial prosthetic component comprising a plate (100) having the selected thickness and a keel having the selected depth. The invention may also comprise implanting a tibial prosthetic component selected in accordance with this method into an individual and a kit comprising a plurality of prosthetic components comprising plates having different thicknesses with keels of different depths.

摘要: A cooling system for an electronics chassis includes a plurality of centrifugal blowers arranged to motivate cooling air through the electronics chassis. The centrifugal blowers are arranged in one or more sets, each having blowers oriented with respective inlets in mutual facing relationship.
