A spatially aware apparatus includes a projector. Projected display contents can change based on the position, motion, or orientation of the apparatus. The apparatus may include gyroscope(s), accelerometer(s), global positioning system (GPS) receiver(s), radio receiver(s), or any other devices or interfaces that detect, or provide information relating to, motion, orientation, or position of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for harvesting publicly accessible data from internet web pages. In one embodiment, the invention includes emulating user requests that are consistent with a user operating an industry standard browser, receiving text in response to the generated request, using a set of relevance estimators to select a most relevant candidate from a set of data items, and segmenting text received from a web page into extractable blocks. Relevance estimators may use techniques such as word matching, pattern matching, format matching, context assessment, word proximity, and the like. The extracted data may be aggregated into a database and used in applications such as phone directories or sales catalogs. The present invention facilitates data harvesting from web pages related to one or more specified topics.
Abstract:
A system for associating metadata with at least one media file is provided. The system includes a memory storing transcription information associated with the at least one media file, at least one processor coupled to the memory, and a component executed by the at least one processor and configured to associate metadata with the at least one media file by storing an association between the transcription information and the metadata within the memory. In the system, the transcription information may be synchronized with the at least one media file and the association engine may be further configured to associate the metadata with a portion of the at least one media file by storing an association between a portion of the transcription information and the metadata.

According to at least one embodiment, a system for generating a plurality of caption frames is provided. The system comprises a memory storing a plurality of elements generated from transcription information, at least one processor coupled to the memory, and a caption engine component executed by the at least one processor. The caption engine component is configured to identify at least one element sequence as meeting predetermined criteria specifying a plurality of caption characteristics, the at least one element sequence including at least one element of the plurality of elements, and store the at least one element sequence within at least one caption frame. The at least one element sequence may correspond to at least one sentence. The transcription information may be time-coded.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for labeling vitamin B12 with 14C, 13C, tritium, and deuterium. When radioisotopes are used, the invention provides for methods of labeling B12 with high specific activity. The invention also provides labeled vitamin B12 compositions made in accordance with the invention.
Abstract:
A hasp seal lock assembly includes a base member that is attached via a hinge to a cover member. The cover member, when rotated such that the cover member engages the base member, is functionally adapted to overlay a latch and seal. The base member and the cover member each have a plurality of apertures defined in adjacent side walls that allow the horizontal latch arm to extend through the assembly. The base member and the cover member also include a second plurality of cooperating apertures whereby the base member and the cover member may be locked together by use of a padlock. In a first preferred embodiment, each cover side wall includes a tab and tab-receiving apertures are defined within the base member. The tabs require that the cover be lifted vertically prior to rotation of the cover member about the base member.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus of fabricating a gas turbine engine component are provided. The method includes selecting a surface of a component to apply a wear-resistant material, applying a formed wear pad fabricated from a wear-resistant alloy and a braze material, and vacuum brazing the component and applied wear pad wherein the wear-resistant alloy is bonded to the component surface using the braze material.
Abstract:
A MEMS-based projector may be included in various user devices. A selective fold mirror, a MEMS-based projector, and a polarization rotator may be oriented to reflect a beam within the device for external projection. Alternatively, a total internal reflection prism may take the place of a selective fold mirror or a polarization rotator and may reduce the number of necessary components in the user device. Various optical components may be placed in the MEMS-based projector and arranged in different positions to reflect a light beam in a desired direction for external projection. The components that make up the MEMS-based projector may depend on the available footprint in the device and the direction in which the light beam is to be projected. Some optical components may provide multiple functionalities which would otherwise require multiple components and may reduce the size of the projector.
Abstract:
An integrated photonics module includes at least one light source and a MEMS scanner coupled to and held in alignment by an optical frame configured for mounting to a host system. According to some embodiments, the integrated photonics module may include a plurality of light sources and a beam combiner coupled to the optical frame. According to some embodiments, the integrated photonics module includes a selective fold mirror configured to direct at least a portion of emitted light toward the MEMS scanner in a normal direction and pass scanned light through to a field of view. The selective fold mirror may use beam polarization to select beam passing and reflection. The integrated photonics module may include a beam rotator such as a quarter-wave plate to convert the polarization of the emitted light to a different polarization adapted for passage through the fold mirror. The integrated photonics module may include one or more light detectors.
