    摘要: A system for collecting data from a communications network includes customer premises equipment (“CPE”) for monitoring and storing response data. A CPE data collection module uses a Web-based service to collect information from the CPE and process the information to determine line quality and any errors that may exist on either the WAN side or the LAN side of the communications network, and further determine the root cause based on built-in business rules for trouble shooting customer service. The CPE conducts per-tone diagnostics on the WAN side of the communications network and obtains WAN side data. The CPE obtains response data from devices on the LAN side. Both WAN side data and LAN data may be transmitted substantially in real-time or stored and transmitted periodically to the CPE data collection module upon requests originated from the CPE data collection module.

According to example embodiments disclosed herein, there is provided system and method allowing CPE to be queried by a CPE management system (CMS) via commands originated from a CPE data collection system. A system according to an example embodiment may include CPE, a CMS, and a CPE data collection system. The CMS system may transmit commands to query CPE; and the CPE may receive the commands and respond by sending stored data to the CMS. The received data by the CMS may be transferred to the CPE data collection system. The CPE may comprise a transceiver module to receive commands from the CMS, the commands originated from the CPE data collection system and to transmit stored data to the CMS; and a memory device to store data.

    摘要: A design of a network is determined to connect a plurality of central offices (COs) to a video hub office (VHO) using a plurality of fiber path pairs, respectively. In the design, each of the fiber path pairs is a lowest-cost, node-disjoint path pair between its respective one of the COs and the VHO independent of a cost of adding new fiber to the network. The design is modified to reduce the cost of adding new fiber to the network by re-routing traffic from at least one of the fiber path pairs to at least one other fiber path pair.
