    摘要: A process for the extraction of Vitamin E from annatto plant matter is disclosed wherein annatto seed matter is subjected, before extraction, to acidification using amla fruit matter. After the acidification, the mixture of the two plant matters is extracted by water. The acidification converts the vitamin E compounds in the plant matter into more water-soluble forms, thus enhancing the vitamin yield. More of the vitamin is obtained in the ester form than in the form of vitamin alcohols. Processing time is reduced.

    摘要: A Caralluma extract and a method of making thereof which can be standardized and reproducible, and which prevents the glycosides from decomposition, which can reduce the undesirable non-glycoside components. In the first Caralluma extract, the resinous material does not exceed 0.5% by weight, and, in the second Caralluma extract, the resinous material does not exceed 1.0% by weight. The first extract is produced by optionally pretreatment of plant materials, optional crushing and/or grinding, extraction, and concentration. The filtration step and the resin removal step may be performed optionally. The second extract is produced by contacting the first Caralluma extract with excipients, drying, powdering, sifting and blending. The Caralluma extracts of the present invention can be used for medical purposes and as food additives.

    摘要: A process for the extraction of the B group of vitamins from a first plant matter is disclosed wherein, prior to the said extraction operation, the first plant matter is treated with a second plant matter comprising acidic compounds. The acidification converts the said vitamins into more water-soluble forms and increases the yield thereof. In one example, the first plant matter comprises guava fruit matter, holy basil leaves and lemon peels, the two last-mentioned plant species being the source of the acidic compounds. The vitamins extracted and the proportions thereof can be controlled by a suitable choice of the plant species constituting the first and second plant matters and their quantities such as to give a substantially ready formulation conforming to RDA values or other requirements. The vitamins extracted are B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9, the above combination of plant matters giving higher yield than others. The process is of general applicability to other plant constituents.
