    摘要: A multi-layer film of improved adhesive strength and other properties is made by combining a layer of polyimide and one or more layers of fluoropolymer selected from the group consisting of PTFE, thermally compatible TFE copolymers, blends thereof, PVF.sub.2, thermally compatible VF.sub.2 copolymers, blends thereof, PCTFE, thermally compatible CTFE copolymers, and blends thereof. It has been found that the peel adhesion between the polyimide layer and any fluoropolymer layer is greatly improved over known products. Laminated composites of improved adhesion and cohesion are made using such a multi-layer film and at least one fluoropolymer film. The fluoropolymer film is thermally weldable to the polyimide film.

    摘要: Dispersion polymerized PTFE itself, if provided in an unfused state, is sufficiently capable of acting as a pressure sensitive adhesive to facilitate the formation of an initial mechanical bond between components of a laminate such that it may be subsequently heat treated in a relatively short period of time to produce a well-bonded final laminate. This fact makes it possible to prepare a laminate comprising at least one layer containing PTFE by the steps of:(a) preparing a first dimensionally stable laminate component having two major surfaces, at least one of said major surfaces having an exposed layer comprising unfused PTFE;(b) preparing a second dimensionally stable laminiate component having two major surfaces, at least a first of said major surfaces being capable of forming an integral bond with the unfused PTFE-containing layer;(c) bringing said first and second laminate components together so that the exposed layer comprising unfused PTFE and the surface bondable with the unfused PTFE-containing layer are in contact with each other;(d) applying pressure to the combined laminate components at moderate temperature to achieve intimate contact and form a mechanical bond between the first and second laminate components;(e) introducing the mechanically bonded to a heating zone under conditions which avoid delamination; and(f) sintering the mechanically bonded laminate components in a heating zone to consolidate the unfused PTFE-containing layer. The mechanical bond formed is sufficiently strong that the consolidation can be done in a free-sintering process (no applied pressure). Application of pressure, however, is generally not detrimental to the product.

    摘要: A fluid diffuser and a method for diffusing fluid are provided. In one preferred embodiment, the diffuser comprises a frame adapted to be connected to the end of fluid supply duct. Mounted within the frame is a pore-containing web. The web redirects fluid passing through the pores by changing the direction of the fluid upon exiting the web. Prescribed portions of the web can be blocked to expel fluid preferentially in one direction and expel fluid less in other directions. Other means for controlling the direction and flow of fluid upon exiting the web are provided, including changing the angle of fluid supply to the web, and placing a vane at the entrance to the web.

    摘要: A method is provided for preparation of a fluoro-polymeric film on a carrier, covering:(a) preparing an aqueous dispersion of polymeric material;(b) dipping a fluoropolymer pre-treated carrier belt through the dispersion so that a coating of the dispersion is formed on the carrier belt;(c) passing the coated carrier belt through a metering zone to remove excess dispersion;(d) drying the metered coated carrier to remove the water from the dispersion; and(e) heating the dried coated carrier to a temperature sufficient to consolidate the dispersion. The carrier belt is formed from a material of low thermal mass having chemical and dimensional stability at the consolidation temperature of the dispersion and a work of adhesion between the carrier belt and the dispersion that does not exceed the yield strength of the consolidated fluoropolymeric film.
