摘要： An extendible exhaust system is disclosed for preventing exhaust gas seepage into the passenger compartment of a vehicle utilizing a pipe extender that slides along the tailpipe. The pipe extender has a retracted position and an extended position. The pipe extender moves from the retracted position to the extended position when the vehicle travels forward at a predetermined speed. When in the extended position, exhaust flows through the additional length of the pipe extender before exiting the exhaust system. Movement of the pipe extender from the retracted to the extended position may be by airflow traveling past the moving vehicle pushing on a flange acting as a sail against a tension spring. An electromagnet or motor drive system with a movement sensor may also be used to move the pipe extender from the retracted to the extended position.

In one embodiment, a multi-part switch includes a first contact, a second contact, and a plate. The first contact is electrically coupled to a first lead on a circuit board, and a second contact is electrically coupled to a second lead on the circuit board. The plate includes an electrically conductive area that contacts the first contact and the second contact to allow a signal to flow from the first contact to the second contact through the plate. In contacting the first contact and the second contact, the plate applies a compressive force to the first contact and to the second contact.

摘要： A mobile entertainment and announcement system has a trailer base and a trailer body mounted on the trailer base. A trailer hitch projecting from a forward end of the trailer base allows the mobile entertainment and announcement system to be transported to a desired venue by connecting the trailer hitch to a vehicle. A telescoping boom is supported by at least one of the trailer base and the trailer body, and is adapted to move from a transport position to a set-up position and to a broadcast position. At least one broadcast speaker is mounted on the telescoping boom when the telescoping boom is in a set-up position, so that when the telescoping boom is moved from the transport position to the broadcast position, the broadcast speaker is moved to a higher elevation above the trailer base. An audio component housed in the trailer body is connected to the broadcast speaker for transmitting audio content to an audience over a larger area. A power supply is used to provide power to the broadcast speaker and the audio component, while also providing protection to at least one of the audio component and the power supply.

摘要： Methods and systems for controlling the operation of a tool are provided. These methods and systems may be used to control the operation of any tool, for example, a drill or a saw. The methods and systems employ at least one sensor to detect at least one operational parameter of the tool, for example, drill speed or acceleration. Instrumentation is used to process the data representing the parameter to determine characteristic values of the parameter, for example, amplitudes and frequencies. These characteristic values are used to control the operation of the tool, to determine one or more properties of the material being acted on by the tool, or to monitor the condition of the tool. Though aspects of the invention may be applied to a broad range of tools and machining processes, in one aspect, the methods and systems are used to monitor and control the operation of a surgical drilling process, for example, for the drilling of bone.
