摘要:
A shock absorber has a pressure tube, a piston slidably disposed in the pressure tube and a piston rod attached to the piston and extending out of the pressure tube. The end of the piston rod extending out of the pressure tube defines a contoured surface which can be engaged to prohibit rotation of the piston rod. In one embodiment the contoured surface is defined by an inner surface of a bore. In another embodiment, the contoured surface is defined by an exterior surface of an extension to the piston rod.
摘要:
A strut assembly includes a strut having an upper and lower spring seat attached to it. A spring is disposed between the upper and lower spring seat. In its uncompressed state, the spring seat has a non-linear shape such that when it is compressed it exerts a lateral force on the strut. The non-linear shape of the spring in its uncompressed state is designed to allow the insertion of the strut through the spring when the spring is in its uncompressed state.
摘要:
The top mount of a strut assembly is capable of being orientated in various positions to accommodate various locations in a vehicle. An orientation device includes a top mount fixture which engages the top mount of the strut assembly. The top mount fixture is positioned within upper tooling and the top mount and top mount fixture are rotated in a first direction until a blocking stop on the upper tooling is engaged. The top mount and the top mount fixture are rotated in the opposite direction until a position stop on the upper tooling is engaged to properly orientate the top mount. Additional position stops can be added to the upper tooling to define additional orientations for the top mount.
