摘要: The present invention includes a liquid sweetener made from a lactose containing liquid that can be used to coat animal feed to increase palatability. It also includes methods of making the liquid sweetener and making animal feed with increased palatability. The methods include hydrolyzing whey or whey derivatives and adding amino acids to promote a Maillard reaction to synthesize the sweetener.

摘要: A method of treating a proteinaceous material having a first concentration of β-conglycinin, the method including combining the proteinaceous material with an enzyme to form a reaction mixture, the reaction mixture initially having a pH of at least about 7.0 standard pH units, allowing the enzyme to hydrolyze β-conglycinin present in the reaction mixture to form a proteinaceous intermediate, and inactivating the enzyme present in the reaction mixture after a reaction period to form a proteinaceous product, the proteinaceous product having a second concentration of β-conglycinin, the second concentration of β-conglycinin being at least 99 percent less than the first concentration of β-conglycinin.

摘要: An improved flowable milk replacer concentrate having good shelf stability and ready reconstitutability is provided for the feeding of monograstic animals, which concentrate can be readily reconstituted to provide a milk replacer. The milk replacer concentrate has 50 to 75 percent total solids and comprises 10 to 45 percent sugars, including 10 to 35 percent lactose plus up to 35 percent monosaccharides or disaccharides or mixture thereof, 10 percent to 16 percent protein, including at least 60 percent non-heat denatured milk serum proteins; and 1 to 25 percent fat. The ingredients are mixed together and emulsified, as by homogenization, to provide a shelf-stable, flowable product. The milk replacer concentrate has a viscosity of between 100 and 5000 centipoises and a pH of between 4.0 and 7.0 with a water activity of between 7.0 and 0.87. The milk replacer concentrate readily mixes with water to provide a milk replacer having a solids content of about that of cows' milk.
