Abstract:
A fluid pressure vessel has a filter cartridge with spaced headers positioning cylindrical pleated filter media. The headers form an inlet chamber communicating with the inlet upstream side of the filter media and an isolated outlet chamber communicating with the downstream side of the filter media. A hollow piston with a toothed periphery having a circumferential slot is positioned closely adjacent the upstream side of the filter media. The piston hollow communicates with a drain chamber isolated from the inlet and outlet chambers. Upon opening of the drain chamber to atmospheric pressure, the pressure in the piston hollow and slot causes a lower pressure in a localized area of the media and back flushing of trapped material on the upstream side of the media to the drain chamber. An actuator is connected to selectively progressively move the piston and slot along the entire surface of the media.

Abstract:
A cartridge for use with a filter housing with a cavity having an inlet and outlet. The cartridge is formed from a cut length of monofilament polyethylene woven mesh tubular material to form a sleeve. One end of the sleeve is gathered to closure, fused and banded to form a pocket. The pocket is then filled with particulate or granular polymer which may be coated with organosilane anti-microbial agent permanently bound. The opposite end of the sleeve is then gathered, fused, folded over and banded to form a loop to facilitate removal of the cartridge from a filter housing.
Abstract:
A cover is provided for a removable pressure vessel lid and the cover has a peripheral flange extending over the interface of the lid and pressure vessel to direct escaping pressurized fluid away from the operator in the event of a seal leak or residual pressure upon release of the lid fasteners. The fasteners such as swing bolts engage slots in the lid flange; and, flow shields are provided on the fasteners to redirect fluid escaping at the slots and about the fasteners.

A sealing arrangement for sealing a quartz tube with a UV lamp therein and electrical cable extending therefrom through the lid of a pressurized fluid purification vessel. In one version, a tubular fitting, threaded on opposite ends, is received over an end of the quartz tube and threadedly engaged in an aperture in the lid and sealed with a first annular seal, a second annular seal in the tubular fitting seals about the quartz tube. A compression nut with an axial extension threadedly engages the opposite end of the tubular fitting and a strain/flexure relief is threaded into the axial extension. In a second version, the second annular seal comprises a flexible sleeve with a member having resilient radially deflectable fingers compressed thereon by a compression nut; and, duplicates of these parts employed to seal about the electrical cable.

A flow through fluid pressure vessel of the type containing filter bags formed by a tubular shell, a one-piece cast bottom closure with an integral outlet port fitting welded to one end of the shell, a one-piece cast combination bulkhead and flange ring welded to the opposite end of the shell, a cast inlet fitting inserted through an aperture in the shell and connected to an inlet opening through the bulkhead and welded to the shell aperture. A cast closure/lid forms an inlet plenum with the bulkhead and is releasably sealed over the flange ring.

A fluid treatment system having in one version an irradiation chamber with UV lamps with a swirl vane pack in the inlet for effecting clockwise and counterclockwise swirl in fluid entering the chamber. Other versions employ a central filter media element with an irradiation chamber with UV lamps disposed annularly thereabout. In other versions, mechanical wiper discs are provided for wiping debris from the filter media and the lamp tubes. In other versions, the UV lamps are in a central irradiation chamber with plural filter media tubes arrayed annularly there around. In other versions, mechanical wipers are provided for the UV tubes and a rotating drain arm is provided for backwashing individual filter tubes. In other versions, the central filter and annularly arrayed UV tubes are mounted in a pressure vessel lid.
