摘要: A seam welding machine includes a first roller electrode and a second roller electrode that hold a layered body formed by layering a plurality of workpieces. The first roller electrode is in contact with a thinnest workpiece, which is disposed on an outermost side of the layered body. The seam welding machine has a current-branching electrode held in contact with the thinnest workpiece, and which is charged with a polarity opposite to that of the first roller electrode. Accordingly, when an electric current is applied between the first roller electrode and the second roller electrode that hold the layered body, a branch electric current is applied from the first roller electrode to the current-branching electrode, or a branch electric current is applied from the current-branching electrode to the first roller electrode.

摘要: Disclosed is a bonding method for dissimilar materials made from metals and its resulting structures. The materials to be bonded are formed by layering three or more sheets such that a dissimilar material interface and a same material interface are formed. A first current is conducted between a three-sheet layered plate material wherein an aluminum alloy plate, a zinc plated steel plate and a bare steel plate, for example, are layered in order. A nugget is formed in an interface between the zinc plated steel plate and the bare steel plate, which are the same materials. Then, a second current greater than the first current is conducted, and a nugget is formed in an interface between the aluminum alloy plate and the zinc plated steel plate.

摘要: An apparatus comprises a current source, first and second wheels through which a current from the current source selectively flows, and a source of gas, wherein the first and second wheels receive first and second pieces of metal having overlapping portions, force the first and second pieces of metal together at said overlapping portions. The current from the current source flows through the first and second wheels in the overlapping portions of the first and second pieces of metal, generating heat in said first and second pieces of metal sufficient to melt a coating on the first and second sheets of metal where the first and second sheets of metal contact and overlap. The source of gas comprises removes said melted coatings away from the overlapping portions of metal to clean the metal surfaces in preparation for movement to a weld station where the pieces of metal are resistive seam welded or laser lap seam welded. Preferably the source of gas supplies an inert gas to prevent reoxidation of the pieces between the apparatus and the weld station.

摘要: The invention is related to an apparatus for re-using a copper wire having been used once for mash seam welding in a mash seam welder for mash seam welding a lap formed by overlapped opposite side edges of a metal sheet or like blank between upper and lower roller electrodes via copper wires. The apparatus is provided in a portion of or in relation to the mash seam welder for taking up the copper wire having been used once for welding and squeezed to have a substantially flat sectional profile as taken-up wire and feeding again the taken-up wire as rewound wire to the mash seam welder to be used again for welding between said upper and lower roller electrodes.

摘要: Apparatus for resistance welding an elongate seam in a tubular article, comprises a first electrode wheel outside the article, a second electrode inside the article and a continuous electrode wire arranged to pass over the electrodes to provide surfaces of contact between the electrodes and seam material. The second electrode has a stationary block having a guide surface of like curvature to that of the outer electrode wheel so that the contact arcs of wire passing over the guide surface with the seam material is substantially equal to the contact area of wire passing over the external wheel. The use of this stationary inner electrode improves the weld of geometry and permits welding of can bodies of relatively smaller diameter without use of mercury contact bearings.
