Abstract:
A plural component spray gun (1) is designed for spraying quick setting materials such as foams, polyurea and the like. Towards this end, the gun (1) is designed so as to be easily serviceable with a minimum of tools. For example, the side seal cartridges (18) and (20) may be installed and removed without tools by removing the retaining ring (9) and then extracting them from the fluid housing (11). Those cartridges (18) and (20) are easily disassembled and cleaned. Similarly, the fluid housing (11) may be removed from the handle/body (1) by unscrewing the lock ring (7) by hand.
Abstract:
The induction exhaust has an exhaust manifold 16 and a muffler 22. In the instant invention, warm ambient air is drawn into the muffler 22. Heat from this external source is conducted through the finned manifold 16 to melt ice that can form inside the manifold 16 during the exhaust cycle. The exhaust manifold 16 bolts to the side of the air motor air valve 14 and serves to direct, muffle and diffuse the air motor exhaust using a deflection plate, a diffraction plate and an expansion chamber is provided in the manifold to direct the exhaust out of the air valve and down the center of the muffler 22.
Abstract:
A ball stop valve (10) allows liquid to enter a reciprocating piston pump when internal suction is great enough to raise the ball (13) and create a space between the ball (13) and a seat (9). This invention allows the user to easily insert or remove rings (15) into the ball inlet valve, either above or below the ball (13), so that the space between the ball (13) and the seat (9) can be adjusted. The valve (10) is easily accessible to the user and all components of the ball valve (10) are removable.
Abstract:
A device that eliminates the need for torque, usually applied by large tools, in the assembly or maintenance of pumps. This device connects the cylinder (7) and upper housing (5) of a pump using a simple locking pin (9) that inserts through the upper housing (5) of the pump and along the flat (7a) on the pump cylinder (7). The cylinder (7) inserts into the upper housing (5) until the holes (11) for the pin are (9) aligned. Upon alignment, the locking pin (9) is inserted through both components and locked, thus connecting them.
Abstract:
An air valving system for a reciprocating piston pump (5) which uses piston (10) actuated poppet assemblies (40) to control the main air valve (16) shift. The valve exhaust is vented (50) directly to atmosphere rather than through the main exhaust to ensure reliability. A ramped detent (32) prevents the air valve (16) from centering.
Abstract:
The helix heated hoses 10 and 12 use two features to increase the flexibility. The first feature is a braided-copper heating element 14, which has increased flexibility over the prior art solid copper heating element. The element is spiral wound around the hose and held in place with a moisture barrier 16. The second feature is the helix twist 18 located just before the point where the hoses 10 and 12 attach to the manifold 20. The helix feature is created with the helix support 22, which initiates the twist around 24 inches back from the point of termination. The helix feature works to reduce the moment of inertia about the neutral axis 26 of the two supply hoses 10 and 12.
Abstract:
A solvent piston 22 shuttles between first and second positions. In the first position, high pressure air applied to the rear 22a of the solvent piston 22 closes a solvent bore 24 around the solvent piston 22 and prevents passage of solvent into the mix chamber 26. In the second position, high pressure air is applied to the front 22b of the solvent piston 22 causing it to retract slightly thereby uncovering the solvent bore 24, closing off the solvent inlet 28 and allowing a slug of solvent to mix with the purge air 32 and pass from the solvent outlet 30 into the mix chamber 26. The solvent is either self contained in the applicator or plumbed eternally to the gun.
