    摘要: A method and apparatus provide definition information to a reader during reading of a text within a defined field of technology or literature. This can be done, for example, by: a) a user accesses a text in memory and displays at least a portion of the text on a display; b) the user identifying a specific word in the text for which further information is sought; c) the user communication to a processor that further information is sought on that specific word; d) the processor accessing a system database (internal or external to the system, single sources or multiple sources) having information relating to the defined field of technology or literature; e) the database responding to the accessing seeking further information comprising that specific word by providing file content from within the database containing that specific word, f) file content is provided containing uses of that specific word in a format of that specific word in combination with all single preceding word and each single subsequent word combinations of that specific word; g) the provided word content being in the form of a definition data structure that is immediately readable or can be opened by the reader.

    摘要: Position sensor (10′) and method for measuring the position of an object comprising, a sensing element and an oscillator (30) coupled to the sensing element such that an electromagnetic field is emitted from the sensing element. An output, arranged to provide a signal, varies in dependence upon a change in an electrical property of the oscillator (30). Change in object position relative to the sensing element alters the electrical property of the oscillator (30). Sensing element comprises at least one discontinuity arranged to perturb the signal at a predetermined object position. Alternatively, there is a temperature compensator in proximity to the sensing element and arranged to compensate the signal for changes in temperature.

    摘要: A flexible array probe is disclosed suitable for use in the non-destructive testing and inspection of test pieces with varying cross-sectional geometries. Array elements—such as, but not limited to, eddy current sensors, piezoelectric sensor elements, and magnetic flux leakage sensors—are mounted on thin alignment fins and coupled together with pairs of pivot mechanisms along the axis of desired rotation. The pivot mechanisms allow rotation in exactly one dimension and force the flexible array probe to align its elements orthogonally to the surface of the structure under test. Alignment and coupling fixtures are also disclosed.

    摘要: A game method requiring skill from the players and involves a display on a gaming terminal screen of the game that comprises a model image representation and a game board wherein a plurality of moving objects are displayed. The objects comprise portions of said model image and at least one portion of an alien image. To play, the player selects at least one object. Upon selection, the gaming terminal identifies each object as from the model image or from an alien image. If one selected object is a portion of an alien image, the game ends. However, if all the selected objects are portions of the model image, these objects are removed from the group of moving objects on the game board. When all objects that are portions of the model image have been selected, the play is determined a win.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for screening peat moss material. The method comprises the steps of forming an aqueous slurry of peat moss material and flowing the slurry on a screen to separate fines from coarser particles in the slurry. A spray of relatively large water drops is directed at the slurry to agitate the coarser particles blocked by the screen in order to dislodge fines adhering thereto, whereby the fines freed from the coarser particles are allowed to egress the slurry through the screen. The water spray also has the effect of clearing the screen of fines which clog the screen openings. The invention also comprehends a method and apparatus for screening peat moss material, comprising the steps of flowing an aqueous slurry of peat moss material on a sieve to extract from the slurry excessively large particles, and washing the rejects remaining on the sieve to dislodge therefrom smaller particles of acceptable size which are returned to the slurry.
