    摘要: A cathode ray tube has a panel portion 1 with a phosphor layer 5 formed on its inner face, a neck portion 2 accommodating an electron gun 9, a funnel portion 2 for coupling the panel portion 1 to the neck portion 2 and a color selective electrode assembly 6 having a number of electron beam passing openings arranged opposite to the phosphor layer 5 with a space therebetween. The color selective electrode assembly is installed within the panel portion 1. An electron beam reflection film of a bismuth oxide thin film 6R having a bulk density of from 4 to 9.3 g/cm.sup.3 is formed on the face of the color selective electrode assembly 6 against which the electron beams 14 emitted from the electron gun 9 collide. The cathode ray tube is capable of displaying high density and high resolution image.

    摘要: An implosion-protected cathode-ray tube has a bulb and a metallic band tightly binding the front outer peripheral portion of the bulb to suppress the occurrence of accidental implosion of the bulb during the manufacturing processes including a heating and evacuation process and a rapid cooling process after the heating and evacuation process as well as after the manufacture of the cathode-ray tube. The material forming the metallic band and the size of the metallic band meet the following conditions: i) the thermal expansion coefficient .alpha..sub.s of the material is not less than the thermal expansion coefficient .alpha..sub.g of the glass forming the bulb; ii) a value expressed by: L(1+.alpha..sub.s..delta.t), where L is the inner perimeter of the metallic band at the ambient temperature when the tightened metal band is removed from the bulb and where .alpha.t is the temperature differential between the ambient temperature and a temperature for a heating and evacuation process, is smaller than the perimeter of the front outer peripheral portion of the bulb on which the metallic band is shrunk, during the heating and evacuation process, and iii) a stress corresponding to the yield point of the material of the metallic band remains in the metallic band at the ambient temperature.

    摘要: A method of producing a shadow mask for use in a color cathode ray tube, has the following steps which are conducted in sequence: preparing an alloy sheet having a composition consisting of 30 to 50 wt % of Ni, 1 to 5 wt % of Ti and the balance substantially Fe and incidental impurities; perforating the alloy sheet by etching; subjecting the etched alloy sheet to a solution heat treatment; forming the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment into a predetermined form; subjecting the formed alloy sheet to an age-hardening treatment by holding the alloy sheet within a non-oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature ranging between 650.degree. and 750.degree. C.; and subjecting the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment to a surface blackening treatment thereby forming a black film on the surface of the alloy sheet.
