摘要： A system and method is provided for electrostatic air filtering in automotive vehicles, such as electric and hybrid electric vehicles. The system includes an electrical distribution system and an electrostatic filtering system having discharge electrodes and an accumulation electrode. The distribution system is in high-voltage electrical communication with the filtering system as well as an electric motor and a high-voltage energy storage device in the vehicle. In operation, the distribution system distributes high-voltage electric power to the filtering system. The filtering system receives the high-voltage electric power to generate a high-voltage electrostatic potential between the accumulation electrode and the discharge electrodes to remove particulates from air flowing through a region of the electrostatic filtering system.

摘要： An anti-backlash system comprising a single drive pinion and motor is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the single drive pinion is situated between two idler gears and is allowed to move in the radial direction relative to the bull gear. A preload force provides for the substantial absence of backlash at low torque loads. The pinion moves to the center point between the two idler gears and balances the torque during high torque loads. The present anti-backlash system is well suited for use in drive and positioning systems that are subject to variable and reversing loads, such as those experienced by radio telescopes in variable wind conditions.

摘要： Apparatus for measuring hemostasis includes a container for holding a sample to be tested and a bobber configured to be buoyantly suspended on the sample. A magnet is secured to the bobber. A drive assembly is coupled to the container for driving the container in an oscillating motion. A magnetic field generator is disposed adjacent the container and configured to generate a magnetic field in the vicinity of the magnet. A magnetic field strength detector is disposed adjacent the container, and the magnetic field strength detector is configured to sense changes in the magnetic field as a result of movement of the bobber and magnet responsive to the oscillating motion of the container and clotting of the sample.

摘要： A system and method of allocating contiguous real memory in a data processing system. A memory controller within system memory receives a request from a data processing system component for a contiguous block of memory during operation of the data processing system. In response to receiving the request, the memory controller selects a candidate contiguous block of memory. Then, after temporarily restricting access to the candidate contiguous block of memory, the memory controller identifies a set of frames currently in use within the candidate contiguous block of memory, relocates the set of frames, and allocates the candidate block of memory for exclusive use by the requesting data processing component. The allocation of contiguous real memory occurs dynamically during the operation of the data processing system.

摘要： A method for determining and comparing vehicle fuel economy for several different preselected vehicles. The method includes selecting a plurality of vehicles to compare. The user inputs a driving route and a driving style through a user interface into the system. The system utilizes predetermined vehicle fuel economy information along with the driving route and driving style to calculate fuel economy values for each of the selected vehicle models. The system then displays the fuel economy values for each of the selected vehicles to provide a comparison between the selected vehicles over the predetermined driving route using the selected driving style.
