Abstract:
The preferred embodiments are directed to a method of operating an SPM including providing probe cassette for a scanning probe microscope that includes a base having at least one probe storage receptacle, a lid mountable on the base with the probe storage receptacle at least substantially covering the at least one receptacle, and a probe retainer that retains a probe device of the scanning probe microscope in the receptacle under a compressive force. The probe cassette can be pre-loaded and shipped to a user site where the cassette can be loaded in an AFM without manual manipulation of the individual probe devices.
Abstract:
A bicycle power sensing system includes an electronics module that can be separated from a power-measuring hub assembly. The power-measuring hub assembly includes onboard electronics that cooperates with the electronics module when the electronics module is attached to the power-measuring hub assembly. The onboard electronics includes a memory module that stores a calibration value for a torque tube of the power-measuring hub assembly so that the torque tube does not have to be recalibrated after the electronics module is removed from the power-measuring hub assembly.

Abstract:
A dust collector includes a container defining an interior volume and an opening. A scraper is positioned within the interior volume of the container, and an edge of the scraper is positioned adjacent an inner surface of the container. A collection motor is coupled to the container and is operable to rotate the container about an axis of rotation between at least a first orientation and a second orientation. The container is positioned and oriented for collecting dust within the interior volume of the container via the opening of the container in the first orientation. The container is positioned and oriented for discharging dust from the interior volume of the container via the opening of the container in the second orientation. A trough is disposed below the container. The trough is positioned for receipt of the dust from the interior volume of the container when the container is in the second orientation.
Abstract:
A method of damping control for a nanomechanical test system, the method including providing an input signal, providing an output signal representative of movement of a displaceable probe along an axis in response to the input signal, performing a frequency-dependent phase shift of the output signal to provide a phase-shifted signal, adjusting the phase-shifted signal by a gain value to provide a feedback signal, and adjusting the input signal by incorporating the feedback signal with the input signal.
Abstract:
A web cut-off assembly for a rewinder apparatus includes a bedroll having a pair of retractable bedroll blades that move to a protracted position to engage the web material for a web cutting event. A chopper roll is disposed proximate to the bedroll and includes a first blade and a second blade extending from a circumference thereof. The first and second blades rotationally intermeshing with the bedroll blades in the web cutting event. The second blade is configured to effectively stretch and hold the web relative to the bedroll blades as the first blade severs the web in the web cutting process.
