A system and computer-implemented method for providing access to data of a first party including receiving information for identifying the first party, authenticating the first party using the received information for identifying the first party and generating a first read-only personal identification number (PIN). The first read-only PIN is associated with a first set of access rights for the data of the first party and provided to a second party. The first read-only PIN is stored with the first set of access rights in a computer database. A third party receives the first read-only PIN from the second party, authenticates the received first read-only PIN using the stored first read-only PIN and provides the second party with access to at least a portion of the data of the first party using the first set of access rights associated with the first read-only PIN if the received first read-only PIN is authenticated.
Abstract:
A clutch brake for use in association with a braking mechanism for braking rotation of a shaft connecting an engine to a transmission. The clutch brake includes first and second clutch brake sections having first and second lock plates. The first and second clutch brake sections are selectively configurable in a disconnected configuration and a connected configuration. The clutch brake further comprises a fastening mechanism on the first and second lock plates for fastening the first and second clutch brake sections in the connected configuration. The fastening mechanism includes a first fastening component on the first lock plate and a second fastening component on the second lock plate. The first fastening component further includes a fastener body movably mounted in an opening in the first lock plate, and a fastening arm extending from the fastener body. The fastener body is movable from a fastening position, to a release position.

A fluid mixing apparatus is provided. The apparatus has a mixing volume, a primary inlet, secondary inlet, and an outlet are provided for the volume. The secondary inlet includes a valve which is adapted to be operated by a driver to pulse width modulate the valve between two flow states to achieve a given flow state through the secondary inlet.

Abstract:
Fire retardant and heat resistant yarns, fabrics, and other fibrous blends incorporate one or more fire retardant and heat resistant strands comprising oxidized polyacrylonitrile and one or more strengthening filaments such as metallic filaments (e.g., stainless steel), high strength ceramic filaments, or high strength polymer filaments. Such yarns, fabrics, and other fibrous blends have a superior tensile strength, cut resistance, abrasion resistance, LOI, TPP and continuous operating temperature compared to conventional fire retardant fabrics. The yarns, fabrics, and other fibrous blends are also more soft, supple, breathable and moisture absorbent and are therefore more comfortable to wear, compared to conventional fire retardant fabrics. The inventive yarns may be woven, knitted or otherwise assembled into a desired fabric or other article of manufacture.
Abstract:
The method and apparatus described are distinguished in that the data read out and the modified data are compared with one another before the data read out are overwritten with the modified data. Only those components of the data read out which differ from the modified data are overwritten. This is an extremely simple way of preventing changes to the stored data that were made between the time of reading out the data and overwriting the data from being unintentionally reversed.
Abstract:
A flywheel system suitable for storing energy when demand for energy from a power plant is low, and from which energy can be retrieved when energy demand increases. The flywheel includes (a) a circular composite or metallic glass ring with a radial width limited to less than about 30 percent of the ring's outer radius, and (b) at least one spoke extending along a diameter of the ring, and attached to the ring at either end. The spoke has sufficient radial extendability due to either bending and elastic radial elongation, or only elastic elongation so that, when the flywheel rotates at operating speed, the spoke extends radially to match the radial growth of the ring, without subjecting the flywheel to significant tension at points of attachment of the spoke to the ring. In one embodiment, both flywheel ring and spoke are made of oriented high strength fibers embedded in a thermoplastic resin. Also provided are a magnetic bearing and motor/generator system that are of an axial-gap design so that magnets are held in a substantially fixed position relative to each other, as the flywheel expands radially under centrifugal forces. Further, both motor/generator and flywheel bearings utilize a system of permanent magnets alternating with a high magnetic permeability composition in order to produce highly uniform magnetic fields in the bearing to reduce magnetic drag and improve efficiency, and to produce high torque in the motor generator. The flywheel bearing assembly includes a bulk high temperature superconductive magnet that provides lateral stability to the flywheel.
Abstract:
A gas supply apparatus with improved control is provided. The gas supply apparatus provides gas at an outlet junction. The apparatus includes a gas mixer for gasses from primary and secondary supplies to a given ratio. The apparatus also includes a gas reservoir supplied by the gas mixer. A tertiary supply valve is also included and connected in parallel with the reservoir. The tertiary supply valve is adapted to connect the outlet junction to a tertiary gas supply when gas is not being supplied to a mixer by the primary and/or secondary supply.
