An antimicrobial composition for inhibiting the growth of Mycobacteria in industrial fluids is provided. The antimicrobial composition is an alky ethanolamine of the formula Rx—NHz—(CH2CH2OH)y wherein R is a C3 to C16 alkyl group either linear or branched, x and y are 1 or 2, z is 0 or 1, x+y is not greater than 3, when x or y is 2 than z is 0 and when x is 2 the R groups are the same or different C3 to C16 alkyl groups
Abstract:
The present invention relates a reactive tertiary amine catalyst used in a phenolic urethane cold box process. Through the use of a reactive tertiary amine, the problems associated with vaporous amine waste streams can be eliminated. Some typical reactive tertiary amine catalysts that are useful in the present invention include 1-dimethylamino-2-propanol (DMA-2P), monoethanolamine and dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA).

Compositions containing unsaturated fatty esters may be stabilized against atmospheric oxidation by the addition of an antioxidant package containing a phenolic oxidant and a nonphenolic oxygen scavenger, which may be a hydroxylamine, an amine N-oxide, an oxime, or a nitrone. If an amine N-oxide is used, it may be used with or without a phenolic antioxidant. Compositions treated in this manner show good resistance to atmospheric oxidation and resultant viscosity increase.

Latex paint formulations that contain N-n-butyl ethanolamine (BAE) as the neutralizing agent and methods for their use are disclosed. BAE provides paint formulations that have low odor, increased open time, and reduced volatile organic compounds (VOC). BAE also aids in pigment dispersion so less pigment dispersant is required for paint formulations in which the pigment volume concentration (PVC) of the formulation is 38% to 80%.
