The present invention is directed to blocked biuret group-containing polyisocyanate compositions, wherein the blocking agent is selected from the group consisting of a blocking agent of the formula: wherein R1, R2, R3 may be identical or different and represent a moiety selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl and C3-C6-cycloalkyl, R4 represents a moiety selected from the group consisting of C1-C4-alkyl, C6-C10-cycloalkyl or C7-C14-aralkyl, and x represents a number of from 1 to 5, and a blocking agent of the formula: wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 may be the same or different and represent a moiety selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl and C3-C6-cycloalkyl, R5 represents a moiety selected from the group consisting of C1-C10-alkyl and C3-C10-cycloalkyl, and B is a group according to one of the following structural formulas wherein each occurrence of R6, R7, and R8 may be the same or different and represent a moiety selected from the group consisting of C1-C6-alkyl and C3-C6-cycloalkyl and R9 is a moiety selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl and C3-C6-cycloalkyl.

The present invention is directed to a non-aqueous composition curable by UV radiation broadly comprising a mixture of two UV curable urethane acrylates. The invention is also directed to a coating process using such composition. One of the urethane acrylates is the reaction product of an isocyanate and a specific OH functional lactone ester (meth)acrylate. The other urethane acrylate is the reaction product of an isocyanate and a specific hydroxy functional (meth)acrylate.

A composition that includes isocyanate group containing compounds that include on average i) a NCO functionality less than or equal to 3.5; and ii) from 1.5 to 8 percent by weight, based on the isocyanate containing compound, of allophanate groups; and which is substantially free of uretdione groups. The composition can be used in two component elastomeric coating compositions that include a component A the above-described composition and a component B that includes a compound containing one or more functional groups that are reactive with isocyanate groups. The elastomeric coating compositions can be used to coat substrates.

Solvent-based, dual cure coatings incorporating thermally curable blocked polyisocyanates, which also contain unsaturated linkages, and a method for preparing these coatings. The unsaturated linkages, such as acrylate groups, can be crosslinked by free-radical mechanisms such as UV curing.
Abstract:
A process for the formation of a patterned resist image upon a substrate comprises the steps of: (i) mechanically applying a layer of a suspension of a powdered solid photocurable material in a liquid carrier to the substrate; (ii) drying the resultant layer by evaporation of the liquid carrier and reflowing the powder, under the action of heat, to give a coherent film; (iii) imagewise exposing the dried film to radiation through a patterned mask whereby portions of the film exposed to radiation are cured; and (iv) subsequently developing the exposed film by removing unexposed portions thereof with an appropriate solvent.
