摘要： There is provided herein a flame retardant liquid solution comprising a brominated flame retardant solute and a hydroxyl-functional phosphonate solvent of the general formula (I) described herein; and, wherein the solvent of the general formula (I) has a viscosity of less than 1,000 cps. In addition, there is provided a polyurethane foam-forming composition comprising a polyol, a catalyst and the flame retardant liquid solution, or alternatively, polyurethane foam-forming composition comprising an a catalyst and the flame retardant liquid solution, wherein the hydroxyl-functional phosphonate solvent of the general formula (I) functions as a hydroxyl-containing component and/or a flame retardant in the polyurethane foam-forming composition, as well as articles made from either of the polyurethane foam-forming compositions.

摘要： Polyurethane composites and methods of preparing polyurethane composites are described herein. The polyurethane composite can comprise (a) a polyurethane formed by the reaction of (i) one or more isocyanates selected from the group consisting of diisocyanates, polyisocyanates, and mixtures thereof, and (ii) one or more polyols; (b) fly ash comprising 50% or greater by weight, fly ash particles having a particle size of from 0.2 micron to 100 microns; and (c) a coarse filler material comprising 80% or greater by weight, filler particles having a particle size of from greater than 250 microns to 10 mm. The coarse filler material can be present in the composite in an amount of from 1% to 40% by weight, based on the total weight of the composite. The weight ratio of the fly ash to the coarse filler material can be from 9:1 to 200:1.

The composition includes 100 parts by weight to 200 parts by weight an isocyanate compound relative to 100 parts by weight of a resin mixture including 46 wt % to 75 wt % of a polyol, 10 wt % to 30 wt % of a blowing agent, and 5 wt % to 30 wt % of an additive, wherein the polyol includes 1 wt % to 10 wt % of a polyether polyol and 45 wt % to 65 wt % of an aromatic polyester polyol, and the aromatic polyester polyol has an average hydroxyl value of 250 mgKOH/g to 380 mgKOH/g.

摘要： Disclosed are polyurethane foam-forming compositions with a phase stable isocyanate-reactive composition that includes a halogenated olefin blowing agent that has low or no ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential. Such polyurethane foam-forming compositions are suitable for spray application to produce polyurethane foams that are believed to exhibit good fire resistance properties, low smoke generation and low or no scorch due to reduced exotherm, thereby making them particularly suitable for use, for example, as relatively thick wall and/or roof insulation.

The composite materials can comprise (a) a polyurethane and (b) from 35% to 90% by weight, based on the total weight of the composite, of a particulate filler dispersed in the polyurethane. The polyurethane can be formed by the reaction of (i) one or more isocyanates selected from the group consisting of diisocyanates, polyisocyanates, and mixtures thereof, and (ii) one or more polyols. The one or more polyols that form the polyurethane comprise a high hydroxyl number polyol having a hydroxyl number of at least 250 mg KOH/g. In some cases, the one or more polyols that form the polyurethane can have a weight average equivalent weight of from 200 to 1100 amu. In some cases, the one or more polyols that form the polyurethane can include less than 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the one or more polyols that form the polyurethane, of one or more flexible polyols having a hydroxyl number of less than 150 mg KOH/g and a functionality of less than 3.

摘要： A polyester polyol is formed in a polycondensation reaction between an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, a polyol, and an epoxy compound having a straight chain alkyl or alkenyl group having at least six carbon atoms. The polyester polyol exhibits excellent compatibility with hydrocarbon blowing agents. As such, it is a useful component in rigid polyurethane foam formulations that are contain hydrocarbon blowing agents.
