Abstract:
A method and system are presented which will detect combinations of user touches on a touch screen device as nodes, and will create shapes, areas and windows from these nodes. Where the device has a communications capability, the locally defined shapes, areas and windows can be shared with remote users and databases, and similarly shapes, areas and windows created by others can be viewed on a local display. The method and system are of particular benefit to drawing applications, windows definition on touch screen devices, real estate management, navigation, and exploitation of mapping resources.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods for handling human interface device events using a user-space application. For example, a touch screen device and controller are in communication with a first processor on one side of a data link, and the first processor is in communication with a second processor on another side of the data link. The first processor receives touch screen events from the touch screen controller, along with associated coordinates, and packetizes the touch screen event data for communication over the data link to the second processor. The data is received at the second processor by a user-space application operable to parse the link traffic to receive the touch screen events and associated coordinates and to generate a corresponding graphics manager event from the touch screen event. The graphics manager event can be communicated to a graphics manager application that controls the display of the touch screen device.
Abstract:
An x-ray system comprises an x-ray tube which emits x-rays therefrom, and a receiver mounted within the x-ray tube. An electronic sensor receives the emitted x-rays, converts the received x-rays into electrical image data signals, and transmits the electrical image data signals to the receiver. An image processing unit processes the electrical image data signals received from the receiver.
Abstract:
A method and system are presented which will detect combinations of user touches on a touch screen device as nodes, and will create points of definition, lines, routes and corridors from these nodes. Where the device has a communications capability, the locally defined points of definition, routes and corridors can be shared with remote users and databases, and similar entities created by remote users can be viewed on a local display. The method and system are of particular benefit to navigation applications, map customization on touch screen devices, real estate management, scientific measurement, and geographic information systems.
Abstract:
A cheese-stuffed cured meat product is provided that comprises a three-dimensional cured meat with a hollow core opening through the cured meat and its outer surface. A cheese core is stuffed inside the cured meat to fill the hollow core. A method is also provided comprising providing a cored, cured meat product and stuffing a cheese core into the hollow portion of the cured meat product. The meat product can be manufactured with the hollow portion, or it can be cored using a coring tool.
Abstract:
A filter assembly for use in filtering stormwater includes a bottom including a boss that includes a rib extending laterally along an inner surface of the boss. The rib includes a locking portion that mates with a corresponding locking portion on a peripheral surface of a connection to an outlet conduit for securing the bottom to the connection thereby inhibiting rotation of the bottom relative to the outlet conduit. A center tube is secured to the bottom using a locking mechanism that inhibits relative movement between the bottom and the center tube. The center tube is in communication with an opening in the bottom and a hood is secured to the center tube. A filter medium is located between the hood and the center tube.
Abstract:
An attenuated poliovirus in which the 5' non-coding region of the genome is:(a) the 5' non-coding region of poliovirus type 3 Leon strain modified by the provision of the bases uracil and adenine at positions 472 and 537 thereof respectively, or(b) the 5' non-coding region of another poliovirus modified by the provision of the bases uracil and adenine at respective positions corresponding to position 472 and 537 of the 5' non-coding region of poliovirus type 3 Leon strain.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a footrope construction for use with a bottom trawl generally comprising a conical net having side wings to herd fish into the mouth of the net, flotation devices attached to the upper part of the mouth of the net to provide hydrodynamic lift, and wire ropes attached to the side wings of the net and adapted to be attached to a vessel to spread the net horizontally. The footrope construction comprises a series of rubber straps maintained substantially in the vertical at a specific vessel speed, thus allowing the strap to lightly contact the ocean bottom and create a mudcloud which will provide a visible deterrent for the regular fish entering the wings of the trawl to escape under the net while passing over the shellfish without causing damage and without capturing them in the net.
Abstract:
A classifier may include logic to parse incoming content and to compare a key term in the content to stored content related to multiple prior messages, where the stored content is classified with respect to one or more categories. The logic may produce a score for the content based on the comparing, relate the score to one of the one or more categories, and produce a result based on the comparing, producing, or relating.
Abstract:
An identity authentication method authenticates valid purchases of restricted products or services such as alcoholic beverages from unattended vending machines. The authentication method is designed to comply with all 50 States' requirements, as the equipment includes a field-programmable age requirement verification mechanism. The process consists of two primary steps: 1) Registration, a one-time procedure where a Patron's age is verified, fingerprint enrolled and information entered into an electronic tag, as well as a central database (if applicable); and 2) Purchase, which occurs each time a product is purchased, where the Patron presents the electronic tag to a tag reader (located on the front of the vending machine), authenticates his/her Identification by placing the appropriate finger onto a fingerprint scanner (also located on the front of the vending machine), then proceeds to purchase the product via cash, credit card, or whatever other method is applicable to that particular location.
