The system can include plural vertical and horizontal deflection plates, although a single vertical deflection plate and reference potential plane is preferred. Both orthogonal and preferably tilted display screens are employed to receive the scan. The particle stream is injected offset from a centered position and the stream is scanned asymmetrically away from one deflection plate. A computer program is employed to calculate the offset position. An external quadrupole is employed to correct any aberration in the particle stream. In one embodiment, the system comprises a cathode ray tube.

    摘要: This disclosure depicts a novel electron gun having at least one cathode having an electron emissive coating, a forward element and a plurality of electrodes interspaced between the cathode and the forward element. The electrodes and forward element each have at least one aperture wherein the apertures in the electrodes and forward element are coaxial and define at least one beam passageway for passing through the gun a stream of electrons emitted by the cathode during operation. The beam passageway unavoidably forms a conduit for high velocity gas when the gun is located in a narrow neck of a television picture tube and the tube is evacuated of gas through a tubulator located at the rear end of the neck. The improvements in the electron gun comprise a gas influencing element for reducing and perturbing the high velocity gas flow in the conduit at least in the region of the cathode as the tube is evacuated to suppress erosion of the cathode coating by preventing a violent flow of gas over the cathode.

In one embodiment, the therapy specifically excludes drugs that significantly inhibit the VEGF pathway since that is important for wound healing. This method will prevent results of surgery from stimulating tumor growth and angiogenesis of micrometastatic disease that is much easier to prevent than control after the fact. This can be done indefinitely since there is no acquired resistance that develops, as happens in most cancer therapies.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for an electron beam directed energy device. The device consists of an electron gun with one or more electron beams. The device includes one or more accelerating plates with holes aligned for beam passage. The plates may be flat or preferably shaped to direct each electron beam to exit the electron gun at a predetermined orientation. In one preferred application, the device is located in outer space with individual beams that are directed to focus at a distant target to be used to impact and destroy missiles. The aimings of the separate beams are designed to overcome Coulomb repulsion. A method is also presented for directing the beams to a target considering the variable terrestrial magnetic field. In another preferred application, the electron beam is directed into the ground to produce a subsurface x-ray source to locate and/or destroy buried or otherwise hidden objects including explosive devices.

    摘要: This disclosure depicts an arc-suppression means for use in cathode ray tubes having an electron gun and ancillary electrical circuits susceptible to damaging electrical arcing currents, and wherein getter means are used to capture residual gases in the evacuated envelope of the tube. The arc-suppression means is electrically resistive and is connected in an electrical path between the gun and a high voltage source, and its surface is physically exposed to a deposit of getter material when the getter is flashed. The arc-suppression means includes shadowing means for shadowing at least portions of the exposed surface from a deposit of the getter material to prevent the creation of an electrically conductive shorting path capable of permitting an arc to bypass or substantially nullify the arc-suppression means.
