By using a bioluminescence, a method for detection of a monovalent cation is provided and the method is a high sensitive and simple method. According to the present invention, an amino acid sequence of symplectin and a base sequence encoding the protein are provided. Symplectin is a photoprotein derived from Symplectoteuthis oualaniensis (okinawan squid). By using the photoprotein of the present invention, a monovalant cation can be detected by luminescence in the presence of a chromophore.

A medium transporting mechanism is used in a color image forming apparatus and a color image reading apparatus. The medium transporting mechanism includes a medium holding section and a rotary transporting section. The medium holding section holds a print-medium by clamping the leading end of the print-medium. The rotary transporting section supports the medium holding section thereon and rotates so that the medium holding section travels around a platen in such a manner that the print-medium slides on at least a part of the platen and the medium holding section travels in a loop-like path which is shorter than a maximum dimension of the print-medium in a direction of travel of the print-medium. A color image recording section is located to oppose the platen so that a print-medium passes between the color image recording section and the platen. The color image recording section prints images of yellow, magenta, cyan in sequence and in register on the print-medium. A monochrome image recording section such as an electrophotographic printer may be provided in addition to the color image recording apparatus. The electrophotographic printer prints a black image only. When printing a color image, the electrophotographic printer prints a black image at a high speed and the color image recording section prints images of other colors such as yellow, magenta, and cyan at a slow speed, thereby speeding up overall printing speed in color printing operation.

Light is emitted from a light emitting element and is split into a zero-order diffracted light and a first-order diffracted light by way of a diffraction grating. The zero-order diffracted light and the first-order diffracted light are focused from the diffraction grating onto the information recording medium such that at least a portion of at least the first-order diffracted light is reflected from the information recording medium. The reflected first-order diffracted light is focused from the information recording medium onto a light receiving element paired with and positioned adjacent the light emitting element.

According to the present invention, an ink ribbon is in a detachable ribbon cartridge (3) under tension, and the printer head (6) has a smooth slope at the top of the head (5) that slopes towards the platen, thus, when the ribbon cartridge is put on the printer, the ink ribbon is temporarily twisted at the top of the slope on the head (6), and by swinging the printer head (5) a few times along the platen (6), the ink ribbon (1) at the top of the slope slides down along the slope into the narrow gap between the head (6) and the platen (6), and thus, the ink ribbon (1) is positioned in front of the print needles.

The temperature characteristics of a motor which has a ferrite permanent magnet has been improved. The present motor comprises a stator assembly having at least a yoke for providing a magnetic path and a coil wound on said yoke, and a rotor assembly rotatably inserted in said stator assembly, having at least an elongated spindle rotatably supported by said yoke, and a cylindrical permanent magnet made of a ferrite material pierced by said spindle and being symmetrical wth respect to said spindle, said spindle being made of adjusting alloy or adjusting steel having the magnetic characteristics that the magnetic reluctance of the same increases as the temperature of the same increases, and said yoke is made of steel having the magnetic characteristics that the magnetic reluctance is constant irrespective of the change of the temperature. Although the temperature change causes the change of the flux from the ferrite permanent magnet, that change is compensated by the adjusting material of the spindle, and the effective flux which links with the coil of the stator assembly can be constant irrespective of the change of the temperature.

The printer head comprises of a cylindrical permanent magnet, a first yoke covering the bottom of the permanent magnet, a plurality of electromagnets each positioned on a circle on the first yoke with the predetermined angle intervals, a disk shaped spring having an outer ring and a plurality of projections towards the center of the disk, a plurality of armatures each attached to the related projection of the disk spring, a plurality of print needles each attached to the related projection of the disk spring so that each of the needles has the perpendicular component to the disk spring plane. A ring shaped spacer is positioned between the disk spring and the cylindrical permanent magnet, a second yoke for providing a magnetic flux path is positioned between the permanent magnet and each of the electromagnets, and a guideframe having a thin linear slit for arranging the top of said needles and covering the needles is provided.
