    摘要: A pressure-boosting apparatus particularly amenable for use in downhole applications is disclosed. The pressure-boosting apparatus employs an unbalanced piston which is initially fixated in a run-in position. The piston has a flowpath therethrough in which is mounted a check valve. Initially, pressure is applied to above and below the piston which results in an unbalanced force on the piston due to its configuration. Flow to the tool initiates its actuation at this time. When the unbalanced force reaches a predetermined level, the piston is no longer fixated to the housing and begins to accelerate. Acceleration of the piston closes the check valve due to the sudden decrease in pressure behind the check valve and an increase in pressure in front of the check valve as the fluid volume in front of the piston is compressed. Due to the proportional relationship between pressure and area, a magnification of force originally delivered by the pump is achieved for completion of the setting of a downhole tool such as a packer or bridge plug or the like.

    摘要: Methods and washing tools are for combined cleaning of an annulus in a well across a longitudinal section of the well, and subsequent plugging of the longitudinal section. The method comprises: (A) conducting a perforation tool into a casing to the longitudinal section; (B) forming holes in the casing along the longitudinal section; (C) a washing tool conducted into the casing on a tubular work string, pumping a washing fluid through the tubular work string and out into the casing via the washing tool; (D) a directional device associated with the washing tool, conducting the washing fluid out into the annulus via a hole at a first location within the longitudinal section, after which the washing fluid will flow via the annulus and onward into the casing via a hole formed in at least one second location within the longitudinal section; (E) pumping a fluidized plugging material out into the casing at the longitudinal section; and (F) placing the plugging material in the casing and in the annulus along the longitudinal section so as to plug the casing and the annulus.

    摘要: Methods and washing tools are described for combined cleaning of an annulus in a well across a longitudinal section (L1) of the well, and subsequent plugging of the longitudinal section (L1). Gravel is placed in the annulus between the screen liner and the borehole, together with annular isolation elements. Selective flow control is achieved. Sequential control or commingled production is achievable from multiple producing intervals of the borehole. A differential valve is incorporated in the screen liner service string to allow for gravel placement across multiple screen-liner sections, separated by annular isolation elements in a continuous one stage placement operation, thereby reducing time and complexity of such operations.

    摘要: A drilling assembly supports a liner for making a wellbore. The BHA comprises a pilot bit and a reamer above it that is larger in diameter than the suspended liner. If the BHA needs to be pulled out, the reamer is brought into contact with the liner and a latch mechanism between the two engages as another latch that had held the reamer bit to the BHA is released. The reamer bit stays with the liner as the BHA is pulled and later reinserted. On the way in the BHA latches to the reamer bit which then unlatches from the liner bottom. Preferably, splines and a shoulder on the BHA are used to drive the reamer bit as opposed to any power being transmitted through the latch between the BHA and the reamer bit. However, the latch mechanism between the BHA and the reamer bit could also provide torque and weight on bit for drilling operations. The process may be repeated.
