摘要： An apparatus useful in the production of the paper pot assembly for raising and transplanting the seedlings of farm crops, said paper pot assembly comprising a plurality of cylindrical pots each having a square configuration in section. The apparatus comprises means for applying equidistantly spaced parallel lines or a wide strip of adhesive to one-half the width of one side of each flattened tube, tape-gathering means for converging a plurality of the flattened tubes thus applied with the adhesive to superpose consecutively the flattened tubes on one another in such a manner that two adjacent flattened tubes are disposed in a transversely staggered relation to one another with adjacent tubes overlapping by one-half their width. A combined regulating and guide means controls the travel of the flattened tubes and guides them into pressure rollers where the flattened tubes are adhered together while correctly keeping the staggered or overlapped relation.

摘要： An apparatus for continuously producing containers for the nursing of plant seedlings which are bottomless and square or hexagonal in horizontal cross-section. The apparatus comprises pasting means for continuously applying paste transverse to a tape assembly in the form of lines or dotted lines, means for forming substantially non-pasted units at certain fixed intervals, means for transferring the pasted tape assembly, means for cutting the tape assembly into unit lengths, and rotary laminating means adapted to receive the unit length pieces of tape one by one and laminate them together, all of these means being interlocked with one another to rotate responsive to each other.

A plurality of sheets 1, Fig. 2, of porous antiseptic material, e.g. paper, folded and secured along two edges with water insoluble adhesive 2 e.g. vinyl acetate, forming flattened tubular compartments, are assembled together by pasting one to another by water soluble adhesive 3 e.g. gum arabic. The flattened compartments are secured so that each overlaps the one adjacent to it by substantially one third of its width. When the assembly is opened out it forms a honeycomb structure which may be filled with soil and used to raise seedlings, the water used therefor separating the structure into individual compartments ready for transplanting.
