摘要: A process for line production of plant growth medium pots or bags with a closed bottom end includes the steps of: i) continuously folding the free end of a continuous length of water and air permeable sheet material into a sheet material tube around and beyond a free end of a growth medium feeding tube; ii) forming a first sealing in the sheet material tube; iii) filling the sheet material tube with a measured amount of growth medium; iv) forming a second sealing in the sheet material tube; v) separating the part of the sheet material tube positioned downstream from the second sealing to form a first plant growth medium pot or bag with a closed end, repeating as needed to form a plurality of plant growth medium pots or bags.

摘要: Panel for floating cultivation of plants on water, includes parallel grooves at a top side extending longitudinally, adapted for receiving a substrate and a number of plants or precursors in the substrate, each groove extending through the panel from a first top plane to a second parallel plane. The panel includes air chambers at a lower side extending substantially below the second plane, each of the air chambers allowing therein formation of air roots of plants supported in the substrate of the grooves. At the second plane, each groove is spaced apart from the circumferential side wall of the air chamber it debouches in when projected onto a plane normal to the longitudinal direction, each of the grooves including at least two side support surfaces extending parallel to the groove and below the top side, the side support surfaces adapted for substantially completely supporting the substrate in the groove.

摘要: A filling and transport system is provided in which containers are filled with potting mix or similar growing medium at a first location and transported as a transport module to a second location where plants are planted in the growing medium within the pot. The transport module used to transport the containers and closures containing the growing medium are arranged in a sandwich-like arrangement between two or more stabilising plates having respective retaining elements for engaging with either the base of the containers or the top surface of the closures to retain the containers in stacked relationship to one another during transportation by forming a stable transport module. Each closure is provided with a former for forming and maintaining a void or cavity in the growing medium, particularly during transportation so that the containers arrive at the growers with a preformed bore for receiving the plants. The advantage of the planting and transport system is that growers of plants can plant containers more efficiently since the containers arrive at the growers containing the growing medium ready for planting which obviates the need for the grower to fill the containers on site and form a void before planting.

摘要: A potting apparatus has a first conveyor suitable for receiving a pot thereon, a second conveyor has a surface suitable for receiving soil thereon and having an end positioned so as to deliver soil to the pot on the first conveyor, a drill positioned above the first conveyor so as to be movable upwardly and downwardly relative to the pot on the first conveyor so as to form a hole in the pot, and a driving means cooperative with the first conveyor for moving the first conveyor in an indexing manner such that the first conveyor temporarily stops at a location directly below the drill. The drill is slidably supported on a frame so as to be driven by a belt connected to the drill. A servomotor is drivingly connected to the belt so as to move the drill in an upward direction or a downward direction.

摘要: A plant potting machine includes a pot track for sequentially conveying plant pots along a potting path. A soil lift conveyor having a soil discharge chute lifting soil above the pot track and discharges the soil through the soil discharge chute and into those plant pots on the pot track positioned in the potting path therebelow, while a soil infeed conveyor conveys the soil from a source thereof to the soil lift conveyor. The soil flow rate between the infeed and lift conveyors is synchronized by a chain-and-sprocket synchronizer. Thus, a soil flow-control motor connected to the chain-and-sprocket synchronizer continuously drives the same so that the soil infeed and lift conveyors respectively feed and lift soil in a continuous synchronous manner to thereby effect control over the flow of soil from the soil source to the discharge chute. The potting machine preferably has coordinated indexing and soil drilling assemblies so as to respectively advance the plant pots along the potting path and drill a recess in the soil deposited into the plant pots by the lift conveyor. The speeds of the soil flow-control motor and a drill motor associated with the drilling assembly are most preferably variably controlled independently by logic programmable controllers (LCP's). The rate at which the pot track indexes and the drilling assembly reciprocates is most preferably controlled via a variable speed pulley system.

Two synchronated rotating bladed wheels dispense soil from a hopper into flats of pots moving on a conveyor in a coordinated manner beneath the wheels. The hopper is vibrated by impingement of the wheel blades against the lower portion of the hopper and the containers are agitated by movement of a frame against the conveyor underside.

摘要: A portable bale breaker and potting apparatus is provided. Soil bales or blocks may be loaded onto an inclined bed and conveyed to rotating breaker bars that break the soil apart into loose soil. The loose soil is conveyed by an auger into a chute which deposits the loose soil into pots on a conveyor belt positioned below the chute. Rotating brush heads downstream of the chute remove excess soil from each pot. The apparatus includes a soil management system for recycling loose overflow soil back to an upstream position on the bed.
