    摘要: Nested neutral point clamped (NNPC) multilevel power converter stages and systems are presented, in which the converter stage includes an NPC inverter core circuit with a flying (switched) capacitor nesting circuit, with the switches of the NPC core and the switched capacitor circuit being gated using selected redundant switching states to control the voltage of the switched capacitors to achieve a multilevel output voltage having equally spaced voltage step values. Multiple inverter stages can meet cascaded or connected in various configurations to implement single or multiphase power conversion systems, and higher output voltages can be achieved by forming to converter stages into an H-bridge configuration, and connecting multiple H-bridge stages in series with one another.

    摘要: A PWM based converter including a Y-.DELTA., Y--Y transformer (or a .DELTA.--.DELTA., .DELTA.-Y transformer) wherein the Y-.DELTA. portion of the transformer phase shifts input voltage by 30.degree. with respect to the Y--Y portion of the transformer and thereby eliminates many low order supply line harmonics. The rectifier also includes two series connected PWM switching rectifiers, one rectifier receiving input voltages from the Y--Y portion of the transformer and the other rectifier receiving input voltages from the Y-.DELTA. portion of the transformer, and a controller for controlling the first and second rectifiers so as to eliminate low order harmonics on the supply lines that are not eliminated by the transformer. A capacitive bank is required between each rectifier and the transformer.

    摘要: A system comprising low cost topology for power converter systems is provided. The system takes advantage of the voltage-boost characteristic of a current source inverter (CSI) and utilizes a PWM CSI as a grid-side converter for power generation systems. Moreover, the generator-side converter employs low-cost devices, such as, but not limited to diode bridge, thyristor bridge, and/or a combination of diodes and thyristors, and accordingly simplifies generator-side converter and control. Further, the system provides a wider range of operation than traditional voltage source converter based topologies that utilize a voltage source inverter (VSI) as the grid-side convertor along with a diode rectifier as the generator-side converter.
