Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for determining connections between entities includes receiving private information from a user, retrieving public information from publicly available sources, and matching the public information with the private information. The method also includes generating a graph database with the public and private information, determining connections between entities in the graph database, and determining strength of connectivity between entities in the graph database.
Abstract:
Apparatus comprising a source of optical radiation (15), an optical fibre (1), and an absorbing material (2), wherein; the optical fibre (1) comprises a core (37), at least one cladding (38), and an optical surface (3); the source of optical radiation (15) provides optical radiation (16) that propagates along the core (37) of the optical fibre (1), and unwanted optical radiation (14) that propagates along the cladding (38) that surrounds the core (37); and the absorbing material (2) is in contact with the optical surface (3) over a length (5) of the optical fibre (1). The apparatus is characterized in that: the absorbing material (2) has a refractive index (101) that is higher than a refractive index (100) of the optical surface (3) within a temperature range (102) thus enabling the unwanted optical radiation (14) to pass from the optical fibre (1) into the absorbing material (2) within said temperature range (102); the absorbing material (2) is such that it can absorb at least some of the unwanted optical radiation (14) that enters into it from the optical fibre (1); the absorbing material (2) is such that its temperature increases upon absorption of the unwanted optical radiation (14); and the absorbing material (2) is such that its said refractive index (101) reduces with increasing temperature. This has the effect of limiting the amount of the unwanted optical radiation (14) that can be removed per unit length of optical fibre (1) to a predetermined absorption per unit length (62). Thus the apparatus is such that it is able to remove the unwanted optical radiation (14) up to a power level (12) substantially equal to the product of the predetermined absorption per unit length (62) and the length (5) over which the absorbing material (2) is in contact with the optical surface (3).
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a memory management system employed in a settop terminal which utilizes memory available at the headend of a CATV system through a bidirectional CATV network to augment the memory resident within the settop terminal. The system includes a memory management unit that monitors the software application running on the settop terminal microprocessor, pre-fetches blocks of the program from the headend and stores these blocks in resident memory. The memory management unit manages the limited pool of settop terminal memory by dividing it into segments large enough to hold a single program block. Program blocks are fetched from the headend as needed by the microprocessor, and segments of memory containing program blocks not likely to be used are reused. The system provides sufficient read-ahead capability to ensure that the microprocessor has enough executable code to process at all times. The location of the memory is completely transparent to the microprocessor.
Abstract:
The mobile separation unit, for separating particulate solids from a transport gas, has a filtration housing for separating the solids from the transport gas connected to a vacuum pump or air compressor for inducing the flow of transport gas into the housing. The housing is mounted such that it is movable between a stowed position and operating position, the center of gravity of the housing in the stowed position being below its center of gravity in the operating position thereby improving the stability of the unit during transportation.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed that allow for providing targeted asset/advertisements for broadcast-wide programming feeds. The systems and methods allow network platforms to select among asset options provided with a content stream and/or replace assets in the content stream. In one arrangement, after selecting an asset, the asset is inserted into the content stream and the content stream is disseminated to subsequent network platforms (e.g., local platforms). At this time, the local platforms may insert local assets into the content stream in predetermined local asset insertion spots.
Abstract:
An airnet constructed of a filtering fabric sewn in the shape of a windsock is connected to the discharge end of a fan. Actuation of the fan causes ambient air to flow through the fan and into the airnet. The air passes through the filtering fabric of the airnet and particulate matter in the ambient air is trapped and retained within the airnet. The airnet and fan combined form a portable air filtration system capable of filtering the ambient air in confined spaces, such as bathrooms being finished or remodeled, in a relatively quick and efficient manner.
Abstract:
Assets of broadcast network content are targeted to network users of interest based on location information regarding user equipment devices. Asset providers can specify location targeting criteria via a graphical user interface displaying mapping information. This location targeting criteria can then be compared to location information regarding user equipment devices so that assets are delivered to appropriate devices. The comparison of the location targeting criteria to the device location information can be performed at the user equipment devices or at another location. In the latter case the assets can be addressed to appropriate user equipment devices or appropriate user equipment devices can be directed to select the asset, which is broadcast via the network. In this manner, assets can be targeted to individual network users on a basis independent of network topology.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for permitting a rendering device, such as a printer, to be automatically configured at the time of device driver installation, regardless of the means utilized to install the driver are disclosed. In general, a device driver (e.g., a printer driver) is associated with the rendering device. The device driver includes a driver default configuration. The driver default configuration can be initially set in the rendering device via an embedded network server (e.g., an embedded web server) in the rendering device. The driver installer can then query the driver default configuration as set on the rendering device. The driver can then be automatically adjusted prior to the installation of the driver, in response to querying the driver default configuration by the driver installer. The rendering device can be implemented as a printer, a scanner, a multi-function device, a photocopy machine, and the like.
